Impact of Play Your Best...

Like Tiger I've been following the Twitter updates and felt a little like him. However I figured the odds or winning were stacked against me and didn't bother entering in the end. To be honest like others have said it would have been the coaching (particularly the mental side) that would have interested me the most. As it goes I'm very happy with the teacher I have and feel I'm making progress in my own inimitable fashion anyway. Good luck to al those that have won and hopefully there wil be other opportunities later in the year

I just hope they go into detail on the fitness and nutritional advice in a way that us unsuccessful people can learn from. Last time there was an article on fitness in a magazine it just said to paraphrase "this is Sam Hutsby, he's a pro, he does a fitness regime" well to be honest you could tell that from the size of the biceps! What i want is details - exercises, frequencies etc...

I would have loved to have entered , hell I even got the application form but was told in no uncertain terms that I couldn't make one of the dates so it was a non-starter. I shall follow with interest the trials and tribulations that will follow and wish all the selected guys the best of luck in achieving their goals. I still have that aim for the year of breaking 80 in a comp - disappointment for me came early, I have become accustomed to that feeling but occasionally there are those precious moments that make it all worthwhile. I hope the next one is when us old geezers show those young pups that there is many a good tune played on an old fiddle.

Tiger.. I too made it to the shortlist, but did not make it to the final 4.. Absolutly gutted/jealous etc etc etc..
However, I think the build up to PYB gave me a bit of impetus to go and some decent shots. I will be following them and hoping to learn somethings from the mental and physical elements. I am still hoping to break 90 this year.

Maybe, we shortlisters (and anyone else) should form a group and help each other over the line. what say?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but would any of the shortlisters like to volunteer to get a flag signed by Lee Westwood to auction off at the Help for Heroes event. I have a GM centenary flag that I would post to one of the shortlisters to try and get authographed on the Ping day. The item would then go into the Help For Heroes auction at the event in October and hopefully raise more money for a good cause. Any volunteers?

I didn't manage to enter it but definitely sounds top notch. Now following the guys on twitter so look forward to reading of their progress.

for those feeling a little disappointed in not being picked why not challenge yourself to keep up/do better than the person closest to you h/c wise. Granted they have the best of coaches and gear etc etc, but no-one can teach talent. believe in yourself and anything is possible.

I've already thrown the gauntlet down to Rob and he's accepted the challenge :)

Do not want to impose on or pressure anyone hence the request for a volunteer. Would be a good way to raise some extra funds especially as the prize donations have dried up a little at present (hoping for more luck when I start pushing again later in the year).

Cheeky whatsits

No worries i'll have a quick chat with my new mate Lee and Im sure I can get whatever needs signing signed

Ill pm my address over

Fragger

happy To Help

GB72... planning to be there on 9th.. Can try and get his sig. I am sure Lee would be kind enough to do his bit.

What I am interested in is what were GMs selection criteria. I guess we will never know but I am intrigued.

e.g. Did they rule out current Ping users? Or those that have already shot close to the PYB challenge? Or was there a requirement to have played in say at least ten medal rounds last year? Have a coach (or not)?

I am intrigued! So much so that I intended to spy on Monday but never made it in time (due to a 3 hour hold up on the A1).

If any of the PYB selections would post their 200 words, I would be intersted in what they said about themselves (although I would understand it if they didnt want to!).

PS - played an on Sunday, off the backs but in matchplay and was level when the match ended. I am getting near my PYB mark of 69 gross (-2 to par around my track).
