I'm struggling

Mrs Browns Boys …. runs away and hides.

I'm not a massive fan but there are some clips that are just downright hilarious.

Failing that, the Brexit thread on this forum is a good sit-com.

What about the serious stuff that he includes in shows like Extras and (especially) Derek? The man has an amazing knack of capturing the best in human spirit even when much of the surrounding act is comedic.
Nope nothing he does at all I find remotely funny or interesting. Can't even stand his interviews or live performances.

As others have said, in my opinion the British sit-com cupboard has been bare, probably since the likes of Blackadder for me. Whether its a lack of really good sit-com actors these days (where are the likes of Atkinson, Barker, Jason, Briers Eddington etc) or whether the fact that everything seems to be written in a sterile PC format, but there is no sit-com on British TV that I think really works. Closest we have is Mrs Browns Boys and while I don't find it funny, I know it has a massive following so clearly appeals to large numbers. If only yes Prime Minister was still going. That would be comedy gold trying to see Jim Hacker dealing with Brexit

Not sitcoms, but I do like Would I lie to you, Taskmaster, Mock the Week and Have I Got News for you.

Last 'new' comedy that I really liked was Father Ted, and that is 20 years old.

The Thick off it has been the funniest "new" comedy show i have seen in years. Although i think even that is 10 years old now.

Malcolm Tucker is as good a character you will find in any generation of TV sitcom.

I caught about 3-4 of these and they were brilliant.

Must start them from the beginning - are they on netflix or anywhere?

That other one that was about the Olympics was in a similar vein - the one from Downton was in it, cant remember what that one was called.

The Thick of It is on Netflix, all 4 series.

Catastrophe is probably the best current British sitcom. Very funny and cleverly written. Car Share wasn't pretty good too, but a poor ending for me. Derry Girls' first series was pretty decent too. Although not a sitcom, the funniest programme on tv is Taskmaster. Best of the recent American sitcoms:
The Goldberg's
The Middle
Modern Family
Big Mouth (cartoon)
Master of None
Curb Your Enthusiasm
New Girl
Silicon Valley

Derry Girls was superb but I think a lot of the nuance would be missed by anyone not from Northern Ireland or at least with a lot of exposure to it.

Which is maybe why I don’t find Peter Kay funny - it’s a way of living I’ve never known.

Honestly thought that Derry girls was absolute gash.

Wanted to enjoy it but it was terrible.

That said I’m not from Norn so was not really rooting for the home team so to speak.
