I'm off to Alton Towers....

I was there a week last Thurs/Fri. Stayed in that enchanted village, the little un had a ball in CBeebies land!

As for the whole park, it was dead considering it was school holidays. We had fast track passes for 5 rides but only needed to use one, really. Hope it's the same for you, makes the time there so much better.

And look for the hole in one golf (£1000 prize) and see how ya get on :D. I landed 3 on the green from 30 but they didn't entertain the hole.

And if ya staying on site take plenty of booze with ya. One round consisting of a bottle of wine, a pint of Stella, a glass of wine, pint of lemonade and a J20 cost £35....

Bloody hell I may have to make the most of this, my daughter has been banging on about going back for a while but it's usually too chocka in August.
Shame about The Smiler, hell of a rollercoaster that was!

We went last Thursday.......no queues at all.....
Used our Tescos club card vouchers and got in for £13 each.

The hole in 1 is impossible as the balls are feathery light and so if there is any wind at all they get blown off line and even if you do hit the green, it slopes all sides up to the hole so you would need to hit it directly and hope it sticks.........wouldn't be surprised if it's an undersized hole as well.........

Good laugh though if you just want to swing a club and you get 12 balls for a fiver........they also offer to give you double the balls for your money after your first go, so in all you could get 36 goes for a tenner.

Oblivion is amazing............

I didn't want to mention that bit in advance :D. They gave us 30 balls for a fiver they were that quiet.

We haggled with every stall holder for extra goes at stuff and they were so quiet, they never said no - still cost me about £25 to win a giant bl00dy minnion though.

We went a few weeks after the accident, there were no queues so managed to do all the big rides no problem.

As for the hole in one, I managed a fair few on the green and hit the flag on my last attampt.

The last time I went, about 3 years ago, it was one of the most disgusting places I've ever had the misfortune to go to. Staff did not inform us of the disabled thing we needed to access / queue jump and I had the trudge all the way back to the entrance to get it. Litter everywhere. Wasps galore. Nasty horrible place. Never ever again. And that was with free tickets !!!!!!!!!!!

I went with my daughter yesterday, the place was like a ghost town. Ok the weather wasn't the best but we walked straight onto most of the rides and the majority of food stalls were closed. I was interested to see a couple of guys working on The Smiler, looked like structural engineers or something as they were painstakingly going along every inch of the track from what I saw.
The missus came home and she mentioned her colleague (a solicitor who deals with administrators/receivers etc) reckoned they weren't far from closing the gates for good, find that hard to believe myself like.

No bad thing really. A new owner could be found (could Disney be pursuaded?). They could clean up the place, it's a dump. And put a bit (a lot) of customer SERVICE in place.

True like it does need updating, some of the rides are pure tosh as well. Shame as I used to love the place when I was younger, sign of age but all the rides/areas are just too far apart as well.
