Read the book - Fall of giants by Ken Follett.

I just finished it the other night, set in the same era, he deftly intertwines historical characters such as Winston Churchill, Woodrow Wilson, Lenin with fictional characters as the age of deference changes throughout the first 20 odd years of the century, through WW1 and the Russian revolution, against a backdrop of an earl's household in South Wales and elsewhere.

It is one of a trilogy, which will take in all of the last century. I can't wait for September when book 2 comes out, it finished with the Munich beer hall putsch, with some rabble-rouser called Adolf. I wonder what will happen to him?

If you loved Downton (didn't watch the first series, but got into it via the misus) htis is even better, as well as racy, in bits.

I know how you would have felt, but after watching the 2nd series, I became hooked, despite giving it loads to the missus about the 1st series.

It wasn't all your bonnets and society dames like your Jane Eyre, it was later than all that malarkey. It was good to see the age of deference, womens rights, build up to the first world war etc in a upstairs/downstairs setting.

Ask one mate on the quiet, he may be a secret convert also. Shhhhh.

No, But:-

My hair is 30 shades of grey/just for men combo, cos I can't be arsed doing it all the time.

Women are always right - haven't you been married?

No tea towels required, I let mine dry naturally.

Never seen it but they were filming outside my office in Beaconsfield last week.
