Identifying a Shaft?

Purchased some irons a while ago from a well known internet auction site. the shafts are stiff, that much i am
sure of, but other than that i don't have much idea of what they are.
They are stepless so I'm suspecting that they were Project X as that was the stock option on the clubs in question, but could be between 5.5 or 6.5. Sadly the shaft labels had been taken off. They are +1/2 so not impossible that the stock shafts have been replaced altogether.
I removed the grip as i hoped i'd find a code on the butt end of the shaft, but nothing...

Is there anyway of identifying what the shaft is with no markings - should a decent pro be able to tell by feel? Or will i just have to live with my curiosity? If it was a project X is there a particular iron that i might find the identifying code on?

Any ideas?

Ring the club manufacturer up with code on irons and they should be able to tell you it may not be right but if they tell you they are px 6.0 you wasn't that far out

If your pro has a flex board they'll be able to remove a shaft for you to determine the flex of the shaft.

Its more a club fitters tool than a thing that a local PGA pro will have in his shop.

If near a fitter, they'll probably be able to identify the shaft from sight (as a Pro probably could) and check the frequency on the tool for that job (which a Pro probably couldn't)
