Ian Poulter: leave the bloke alone

I used hate Poulter with a passion, thinking he was a cocky so and so. Hated his hair his clothing, his farts, anything to do with Poulter I despised.

However Poulter is genuinely one of my favourite players in the modern game. His cocky arrogance is actually 110% self belief. I now love his attitude to the game, I love his passion, I love his fighting never say die spirit. I love his wacky clothing and character.

I will go as far and say Poulter was Monty's biggest mistake at RC in Wales. Poulter would have been my number one on the singles team sheet and he WOULD have delivered that I know within my heart. Stricker would not have beaten IJP!

Interesting turnaround... what made you change your opinion so much?

He`s total belief in himself is what got him out the pro shop and a very good life for himself, believe me theres many pro`s and assistants that hate doing those long hours in the pro shop and would love a global golfer lifestyle and this guy went out and did just that and now he gets he`s knocks for it.As for he being annoyed at spectators this could not be further from the truth,I followed Poulter and Monty around at The London Clubs euro event in 2008 both were in the same group and Poulter was visibly annoyed with Monty constantly complaining about spectators and I believe he even made reference to this when he was interviewed after he`s round on Sky,through out the whole of he`s round he was totally focused and never complained about the crowd, very confident yes but cocky no way.

Totally agree. If you don't believe in yourself, who else will?

i likr thr guy aswell,i think he has done well at golf alone and i'm sure he will still be in the mix for a long while yet.

i think it shows a great business sense with what he is doing with regards to the clothing line and house and whatever else he does.when it comes to retiring age he'll be comfortable indeed,he won't worry about what the bank statement says.

He should be number one in the world now. After all it's just him and Tiger when he's on form...and Tiger's gone to the dogs so that should leave the way clear. :p
