Having had my i-phone for a week and discovering more and more amazing apps I wondered what YOUR faves are. I like the gadgety type of apps like pic2shop which alows you t scan a bar code and it will find the item on the net and tell you where to buy it and how much it costs. HID used it today on a DVD for OJ and saved £5.70 by getting it online rather than Tesco.

So, come on, spill the beans !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't understand the need for one of these. All I want from a mobile phone is to make and receive phone calls. Perhaps I'm getting too old, but I've never played any of these video games and I don't have time to play them. Remember the days when you couldn't be contacted when you were out, and you didn't need to have instant access to the internet? They were the good old days!

You wouldn't understand the need for an iPhone if all you want is to send and receive phone calls.

Some people actually use their phones for more than very basic functions though, perhaps that's the market apple are looking to target? x

Only had mine for just over a week. So here goes.

TVGuide - just brilliant.
RadioBox - I'm listeninmg to radio stations from USA, Africa, the Middle East. Very cultrual.
AccuWeather - the best I've found so far.
Analytics - app for Google analytics.
PayPal - it is what it is.
PocketRetail - very useful for biz.
Postage - instant postage costs.
Appsniper - save £'s on apps!
Facebook - well!
PGA Tour - self explanatory.
Speedometer - put it on your dashboard and you have a HUD! Great for night driving, and makes it easier on the eyes.

Games wise.

Paper Toss - simple and addictive.
Cowabunga - so addictive and so simple, but not easy.
Pokerdash - a twist on the usual card games.
AW Casino - 'cause I can bet (and lose) as much money as I like. It's not online or live!
iputt - an annoying little putting game.
Golf2go - an app version of the Pocket Golf Professional that I sell.
Golf Rules - app version of the rules book on the website.

I seem to have loads of others on the phone, but rarely touch them.

TBH most games I've come across so far are interesting enough for use in the bathroom; instead of reading material!

But it's not the apps that I like about this phone. The email works well and the calender in list mode is far superior to my old windows mobile device.

I've just downloaded "Banner". Great wee app. Try it Andy.

It provides a scrolling "banner" screen with any message you want. At the moment, given how inattentive some of the bar staff are in my local, my favourite message has one particular barman silently mouthing the words

".... Can.. I.. have.. a.. pint ..of ..lager.. and ..a ..Jack ..&.. Coke,.. ya ..useless fan..... oh that's uncalled for"

Very handy.

My mate pointed me in the direction of this yesterday.

It isn't an app, but you can add the link to your Home Screen from Safari.

iphone.tvcatchup.com

Lets you watch live streaming TV, and can be used over 3G.

Other than that, I use Tom Tom quite a lot. Tweetie for Twitter, and the National Rail app comes in handy as I use the train frequently.

Superb.

I've got a 32gb 3gs and have to admit always thought the iPhones were cosmetic non functional dung iPod phones. Since "having to use one" I have to say they are excellent bits of technology.
The menus are more fluid than any device I've laid hands on, the actual software system has a familiarity that makes any little job easy. The email works with all of the major systems and the fact you can have your calendar, music, camera, phone itself, lots of little idle moment fillers in a fast and reliable little unit....I'll be keeping mine thanks.
Negative points.
The actual phone unit itself is one slippery customer, I'd be surprised if less than half of those damaged are from drops and slips.
The camera isn't great but will suffice for a special moment provided there is enough light. And that's about it, other than that and maybe it's perceived image. As I said don't knock it until you try it for a day I'd be sure it would change a few minds.

Redwood. I logged onto that tv streaming site, but it won't let me play because Apple won't let me download the Adobe flash player! How did you get around it?

Thats a bugbear I've had with the I phone, if there is a answer I'd like to hear it too :D
