there appears to be plans being put in place for mass rioting when we leave the EU at the end of March, police leave being cancelled, the queen being moved out of London, even the army on call.

i would have thought the majority of retainers would be middle class liberals..... so is SILH and his chums taking to the streets armed with Molotov cocktails???

i can't see it myself!!

Not sure Pimms & Lemonade is quite as dangerous as that molotov stuff...

It's got sweet fa to do with Remainers or Leavers. They're (allegedly) being put in place due to possible food/medicine/infrastructure shortages. I'll leave the forum experts to lecture on whether they're necessary or not...

Dont see rioting by remainers (they prefer an organsied march), some panic buying across the board wouldn't be unexpected though.
Civil order is something that can break down quickly, we just dont expect Brits to partake in anarchy, although we have seen city riots based on other issues like race before. They blew up very quickly.

A lot of it is based on confidence, remember the fuel strikes 15 years ago, once confidence dips and a run starts on stuff like petrol, people can turn a bit caveman and get caugth up, the black friday sales show how people can get too, similar behavioural patterns but on a lower level.

I think this is supposed to be some kind of roundabout way of giving reassurance that the Govt has thought about it and therefore has it all under control.

Leaving without a deal, if it happens, is bound to cause some short term worry, how that manifests itself is anyone's guess. This is an unprecedented situation and very un-British like.

All bets are off.:(

This country cannot survive without the EU. It gives us everything we use and eat, everything. Our history is one of shame and mass murder...and we invented slavery too!

...there you go, week one of teacher training college condensed into one line! ;);)
Did Merkel and Macron's motorcade run over your dog? 😂😉

wonder what the criac with the queen is all about then:)

Isn’t it more to do with nuclear threat from Russia? The media have seized upon it and turned it into a brexit story. BBC website is a shambles these days imo which is where I first read the headline, then you go into the story and it’s not what it appears.

I've just posted about this on the Brexit thread. It's cobblers. Who exactly is going to be so angry at Brexit that they will riot? No one so far. The govt should be ashamed at spreading these rumours, the media ashamed for repeating them.

Groupon culture isn't it.

Any excuse to go out and grab something for free.

Doubt potential rioters will be overly motivated by political leanings!

Bring it on I say, I'll be on the lookout for a new TV, Kitchen appliances etc..soon so the timing works great 👍

Scaremongering.

Everything is scare mongering, even this hard border nonsense. Switzerland isn't in the EU, is bordered by 5 other countries yet doesn't have hard borders.

Schengen allows free movement of workers, again Norway and Switzerland are not in the EU but are signed up to Schengen. We can opt into it. Not difficult.

Are countries going to stop trading with us? No.

If we leave we leave, if we remain I couldn't care either but it makes a mockery of the whole country. Just do what was voted for and get on with it. I'm confident a few other countries will follow suit.
