I've got a 23deg benross hybrid which I've never really got on with. Use it off a tee every now and then, but not confident off the turf.

Thinking of getting a new one, but was fiddling around with it the other day and noticed that the shaft on it is about 1.5 inches (4cm for whippersnappers) longer than my 'real' 4 iron. This struck me as a bit odd and made me think that it might excuse my duffness with it.

I know driver shaft lengths keep getting a bit bigger, but I thought hybrids were made to be easier to hit and would therefore have a nice short shaft.

Do other current hybrids have iron equivalent shaft lengths or are they all a bit longer ?

Think I'm going to reach for a hacksaw before reaching for my credit card....

Generally they'd be a little bit longer than iron shafts of equivalent lofts, but not quite so long as wood shafts. I believe Mizuno did a hybrid with same length shafts as irons.

Again generally steel shafted hybrids would be slightly shorter than their graphite equivalent.

It'd be a case of checking the different brands specs.
