Totally agree, if the Dutch had tried to win the match instead of trying to stop Spain from winning they might be champions. They just turned up with spoiling tactics.

...the game finished. It would have been abandoned if almost any other ref had been in charge because at least 8 should have gone. Can you imagine a ref from Honduras or somewhere being capable of running a game like that? And Iniesta shouldn't have been on the field after demanding cards at least twice.

What they need to do is clone Per-Luigi Colina - best ref ever. Nobody gives him anything - he's only got to look at you and its curtains.

He could have sent of Robben for any number of offences including foul and abusive language on at least 3 occasions. Van Bommel should have gone and possibly two or three others. The Dutch created their own downfall. Webb tried to at least make it a level contest and therefore a spectacle. I think he did ok in testing circumstances and can't see how any ref of any nationality could have done anything different. I think any comments about helping Spain or bottling decisions is ludicrous

Webb IMO made some poor decisions and should have sent some dutch players off,however i think he realised that if he had sent two players off in the first half as a spectacle it would have been over thus denying millions watching.On the other hand the dutch would not have been able to complain as they were brutal,they obviously realised they would not be able to compete on a footballing level so tried to kick them off the park.The trouble is with football these days is its possible now to get sent off for kicking the ball away 5 yards and wasting time so when it comes to a bad foul he had to be lenient.Van Persie put the ball in the net after the whistle had gone and he was already booked and by the letter of the law should have been sent off.Iniesta kicked the ball away 10 yards and was booked but was not on a yellow wheres the difference,imo a stupid rule just add 10 seconds for christ sake,then there maybe a bit more room for punishing real fouls.Webb and his brilliant assistants were the best in the tournament and deserved there places blaming them or webb alone would be nieve.Nice to see the right result in the end.
