How To Play On Poor Quality Greens...all advise welcome

It's been course maintenance week at my club this week. It's in calendar, everyone knows about it, and it needs to be done. Playing tomorrow and shan't worry about making any putts.
We have the best greens around this area so it's well worth it.

...and I know the amount of work that has to be done on your greens - as they are clay sub-base. Really serious hollow-tining and heavy top-dressing. In the past it was like putting across Blackpool beach for week or so - but you usually got a fairly good roll across the sand :)

I know nothing of greenkeeping, I know our greens are great the rest of the year so whatever the greenskeepers need to keep them that way is OK by me.

I used to know a secretary called Mr Saul.
Believe it or not his parents christened Robert
[R.Saul]

LOL - in the days of mainframe computing and centralised printing of output - my work printer printed user inital then surname on the front sheet. I had a work colleague called Robert Searle...

But unfortunate names could take us way off topic...:)
