I have noticed that my game tends to slip by 13 / 14 holes and think it might be loss of concentration or lack of energy.

I carry in the winter and cope and at present use my push trolley

Always take water and a few biscuits for energy but every game it tends to suffer near the end

Any tips to focus better ?

I also think I should lose maybe 1 stone in weight as this would help slightly

A the end of the game I feel fine so maybe its a focus issue instead of energy levels ?

Carrying excess weight certainly doesn't help. I have lost nearly half a stone since Easter and not only feel fitter for the walking I feel better and more supple in the golf swing.

Learn to relax between shots - and concentrate when it counts.

This.

Try to switch off and relax when your not playing. I usually try and concentrate again when I put my glove back on. If you keep your glove on all the time then I suggest you find yourself a "trigger" to get back into golf mode.

put it this way...........if you put a rucksack on with a 14lbs weight in it on the 1st tee do you think you would be flagging near the end

Lose the excess and see your energy levels rocket- I'm one to talk as I need to do the same.........but the Jaffa cakes and kitkats speak to me, they tell me it's essential for the fabric of time that I keep their numbers low:swing:

Being over weight wont help you concentrate at all. But be careful shedding loads of kilos too quickly as you will find that it can in fact change your swing path and cause issues in how you play the game. Crash diets wont help concentration either nor are they a long term fix. A friend of mine is doing this 5 and 2 thingy where you have 2 days a week only having 600 cals and the rest as normal including beers! It is a lot easier to stick to doesn't allow massive crashes and hes shedding weight nice and easy but still playing to his handicap regularly of 3!

Keep fit and get a good cardio workout combined with core strengthening and your see plenty of improvements.

This. Have a start and finish trigger to your shot making and between those you don't think about the previous/next shot or hole etc. So it could be that when you get to your ball or the tee you think "focus" and start to consider the shot in question. Hit it and when placing your club back in the bag think "complete or finished or job done" or whatever and then let your mind relax and wander. You have to commit to this in practice though as it doesn't come easy and I find it hard when I've hit the ball and hope it made the green or didn't shoot through etc and have to wait for playing partners to play before I can go check! Fact is that thinking about what might be's is pointless until I get there anyhow.

Two possible solutions not yet offered.

1. Class A drugs.
2. Buggy hire

preferably both at the same time

Losing weight and claiming to be tired is something your wife should be doing

There was a thread about this not long ago. Apparently 10ltrs of water and 10 snickers will help!

Its funny how I lose concentration around the 13th too. But when im on for a good score I stay focused.

that would be cool. All the glow sticks and raves on the greens would slow play down mind
