Hi. Is it normal for shafts to come 2.8" to long? on the picture are my standard lengt hotmetal next to my uncut takomo i gonna build. Both nippon modus 105.
What's the point of ordering a set of 5-P shafts when you have to cut 2.8"? That's 8 grams. They are marketing as 106g shafts, but that's when they uncut. So is this normal and ppl just put in xtra weights?
Thanks

Shaft weight is typically the weight of the shaft before it is trimmed to the correct length for the club. You need to find the shaft trimming chart for your specific shafts - it's usually provided by the supplier. Swing weighting is done after the shaft has been cut to its desired length, usually done last, just before the head is glued to the shaft.

Normally come that length so they can be cut to size but allow for custom fit ie 1 inch longer

I presume they are parallel tip shaft with .370 tips. They always come as one length (around 40") and you tip trim for the iron they are being fitted to (normally in half in steps for each change in head number), they are then but trimmed to the desired length. As each club gets longer i.e 7 iron against a 4 iron the further away from the hosel the trim is.

Swing weighting is normally done by extra weight in the head before fitting the shaft, although occasionally it might need extra weight at the butt end.

If the heads need .355 taper shafts each shaft is discrete to the iron it is going in and they are only butt trimmed.

This is for the Tour 105.
