Horologists or watch geeks

Whatever your opinion of those watches, the information given on the website is fantastic, and very in depth.
As regards any future purchase of one, whether I do or don't, I take my hat off to Lorne for what he has produced and put it out there/

And I for one will second that, had a look on there site and it is very informative and impressive.

Thank you : - ) , and if you look again you'll see the price has mysteriously changed to £1650. Guess I can wait a little longer to recoup the development money!

As a little update, the company has transitioned to The Marine Chronometer Company and has a new website at www.marinechronometer.co.uk

The price is currently still the same, even though I now use my own 775M2 calibre movement (changes I make to the 7750 movement are now enough to justify M2 to denote second set of modifications to go into production).

Lovely looking piece, and website. Unfortunately they wouldn't do for me. As my eyes are starting to struggle with anything close up I need watch hands to be a different colour from the face. I have so many watches that now reside in a drawer, and I see so many watches I'd love to buy but all of them fail the wrist test, i.e. being able to see the time when on my wrist.

Good luck

No problem Hobbit, watches are deeply personal choices, in which the smallest of thing can be the difference between one person's fugly and anothers perfect. I understand the need for colour contrast between dial and hands, which is why I use a cream dial with near black hands. This was set during prototyping when I made a full range of black dial - white hands, through to white dial - black and multi colour hands. The black hands then have cut throughs with solid C1 superluminova blocks in them so they radiate luminescence down onto the dial as well as upward. Deleted all numbering off the dial as it's too small to read and the whole works perfectly for me, but not everyone's choice.

Ryder cup winner? Impressed!

Good excuse for a picture, which I hope doesn't fall foul of forum rules...

edit: a very small picture, not sure how that happened

Ha ha! I'm also in the same category - with at least 1 expensive lesson learnt! Imported silver on silver/white B&M Riviera chronometer that was unreadable without reading glasses!

Btw. Hope the 'recovery' process is continuing without too much disruption of the design/construction 'hobby' Lorne!

If you're looking for someone who can go in endless circles then I'm your man as one leg ended up more than an inch shorter than the other. Contemplation remediation surgery, which I think involves an old fashioned rack and seeing how far they can stretch it.

We would make a good pair as, following a car accident 38 years ago, I ended up with my left arm being nearly 2" shorter.

Nearly two years before I could go for a swim and my wife watched expecting me to go in circles!

Always good to see the funny side. Ultimately I'm feeling quite lucky as at least I got to walk away from it,.... even if it was in a big circle.

I'm not a golfer, but surely one arm shorter than the other has got to make it tricky.

At least it gives me a readymade excuse for rubbish play!
