Was playing with a group of 12 mates on a overnight break 2 rounds (Sun/Mon)had a ace , who would you buy drinks for? just brought for my mates, if on my own course would have left some money behind the bar.

I've been bitten twice, buying guys drink, I cant remember too many buying drinks for the whole place when they get an ace.

I would of done the same as you.

The next time I have a hole in 1 I'm only buying for my 4ball, stuff the rest. If they dont like it tuff titty.

Spot on, I would only buy drinks for all, or provide a bottle of scotch, at my own club. Oh and by the way....congrats. I've not a member of that particular club yet, although I'm getting closer!!

If at my home club, we get a £100 float, so yes, drinks all round, strangers incl, until it is spent, then I am out of there. Not spending my own cash on a bunch of strangers.

If at an away club, then drinks for playing partners, or if on a society day, for my society, but not all and sundry. No way.

Well done ive had one and bought the drinks in for about 20 people all cokes because I was 15 at the time.

I agree. At home then drinks all round but at another club why shell out for anyone else. You wouldn't expect them to buy you adrink if the shoe was on the other foot. Even with a few mates it'll still put a dent in the wallet.

i think that happens is most clubs, was out with a lad and he had a hole in one and just got friends drinks,he did get away cheap as only had to buy himself one

The protocol at our club seems to be buying a bottle of Whiskey and leaving it on the end of the bar for anyone to help themselves.

Our club has insurance for this which seems to consist of lashing a big bottle of Bell's on the bar and people helping themselves.

I would have no problem with buying people in the bar a drink - surely we all have golf insurance? That usually covers you up to £150 for a bar bill. That's enough to lash 4 big bottles on the bar and have a party ;-)
