Nearly had a hole in one today..... 135 par 3 pw pitched 1 yard in front of the flag, hit the stick and landed on the lip.... Stamped my feet all the way to the hole but no joy sohappy and gutted at the same time...any other stories of so close but yet so very , very far....

Too many to think about ...

Hit the pin
Pitch marks 2" from the hole
Pitch marks a foot past and the ball 2 foot in front
Etc etc

I've given up ever thinking that I'll get one now, it'll probably happen when I can't see the flag too !!

Pitchmark a few inches past the pin, its must have grazed the flagstick! 5 iron from 170 yards over a lake. The ball stopped only a few feet past the pin. Was the sweetest 5 iron I had hit in my entire life, high drawn and spinning like crazy

Came close with Hawkeye at the 13th last weekend. 5 wood drew in great and could only have run past the edge of hole by inches. With the pace it was going had it hit there was a fair chance of it dropping. Ended up 6 feet away. I missed

Today was also my first "Almost". Was out playing a few holes late this afternoon with the pro. On par 3 I said right here's the challenge. It's SI7 so I want 7 feet on you for closest to the pin. Loser buys dinner in the clubhouse.
So he said for me to go first since it was my challenge. I caught it beautiful and it was going straight for the pin, pitched about 5 feet past and backspun along the lip of the cup and stopped about 18" my side. Got a birdie for the first time there all the same.
Needless to say I won the challenge though the restaurant was shut when we got in so no dinner lol

I've been lucky enough to have two aces. One was a 9 iron to our 144 yard 2nd, the second a 7 iron to the 174 yard 18th. Both nice shots too, as I'd hate to have a fluke!

Been close a number of times, including two days after my first ace - finished an inch from the hole at the 11th.

back inOctober I did this

a week or so later, I pitched a foot in front of the pin, hit the pin on the bounce, bounced backwards and finished about a foot in front of the original pitchmark.

on sunday while marking a card for my mates handicap, he struck a beautful 7 iron into a par 3. all over it came the cry as we watched it soar into the sky towards the hole. everyone held their breaths as it go closer and closer. it finally hit the ground right at the pin and everyone waited for it to dissapear. a second or so later we realise it didint drop and we congratualate him on a great shot but unlucky. we when get closer to the green we see that hes about 10feet short but perfectly inline with the flag. from the green it looked like it was sitting by the hole. the search continues.

I'm getting round to the way of thinking, I'm only going to get a hole in one, if it hits a tree, a squirrel headers it out of the tree, a bolt of lightning strikes it in mid air, it hits a rabbit on the foot and goes in

I came closest in September. It was a 130 yard par 3, with a very sloped green from the back to the front, so you either try and bring the ball down off the slope or you play it short for an uphill putt, as it's lightening quick down the slope. I thought I'd try and take it on, I hit it perfect, but it landed and stopped and I thought it wasn't gonna come down, but it started trickling down, starting to gather speed, I could tell it was on course so we were getting excited, it started getting quicker and quicker and then it lipped out!! Thankfully I made the 4 footer as that reallY would have been insult to injury
