has anyone put an insurance claim in for a hole in one. Not theat I've ever hit one but I find it odd that someone guarantees to pay for your round if you do

Now, I'm as honest as they come but how do they check you're not lying when claiming?

You can only claim if the hole in one is part of an official club competition and you have to provide your signed card.

Plus, the insurance company will contact the club.

The limit on the claim is £250 for your bar bill so it's hardly worth forging for.

At our club we just pay an extra £2 a year and that covers the bar bill for the round if you hit a hole in one. You also get a comemorative tie.

I would suspect that these policies would only paout with proof and would be hard to show if it was not in a comp

understood but I bet there are those that try. It's ust something I found strange considering the main points are getting yourself insured against being sued and getting some free gold at some quality courses

My general golf cover includes hole-in-one cover, and as others suggest mine has to be in a recognised club competition. An ace off the yellows in a friendly knock doesn't count.

More's the pity - I've had two and they've cost me a pretty penny. Not that I'm complaining, as I'd never swap the feeling of the ultimate shot for a few quid.

policy is different between insurannce companies, 'official competition' is usual, some require a letter from club secretary. payout varies too, some limit it to £150 - so only do it when most have gone home!
