Hearing on the news & on sky news , the nurse who fell for the australian radio talk show hoax call & transferred it to Kates nurse appears to have commited suicide .. should the hoaxers take any/some/all of the blame for this death , possibly caused by their actions ?

Thoughts ?

Their "joke" has certainly backfired!
I remember a couple of years ago when some girls called a hoax fire in a hospital - all engines out to it, a local boy died in a house fire the crews could not get to in time due to having to visit the hospital hoax. They were given custodial sentences.
This is not quite the same but some culpability must rest with the djs.

Would she be dead if the DJ's hadn't called?

Having said that, the call shouldn't have got as far as her in the first place.

They made a phone prank that they knew would get someone in trouble if it was successful. So yes, they should shoulder some responsibility. Just exactly what did they think would happen to a nurse who gave out that sort of information.

She didnt, she was the nurse who answered the phone and put it through to the nurse who gave out details about Kates welfare

Sadly the poor girl was the one we all heard answering the call and transferring it, we never heard the second nurse speak

Tragic

Interesting point

Legally I dont see that they have any responsibility, it is an unforseen consequence of a silly prank, its not as if they shot someone, they just made a phone call.

However Morally they have to shoulder a huge chunk of blame

That poor lady must have gone through hell these past few days, very vary sad

Thanks for the update. I haven't heard the call as I've no real interest in that type of prank. You are right though, its a tragically sad turn of events. Being married to a nurse, I know exactly how stressful the job can be, and that's without this type of thoughtless behaviour.

Yes they should be responsible.
This is a prank that went wrong, and the consequenses tragic.
This lady must have took it to heart, and it was obviously eating her up inside.

So she topped herself because she fell for a prank?

She must have been teetering on the edge if that is all it took to push her over.

I would suspect (with no facts to back this up) that she may have been suspended pending a disciplinary investigation, the result of which could have been the loss of her job. This is all speculation however and maybe we should wait for the facts to come out.

According to beeb news she had not been suspended or disciplined.

Quite surprised by that. But I still think that we should wait for all the facts before speculating. It's a desperately sad turn of events, especially considering there are 2 children involved.

Legally I can see them being pursued. In fact I'm confident they will be.

I was thinking the same Crawford. Two jobless DJ's next week and a huge legal bill form their company.

Sometimes folk just have to take stock of thier actions, I'll bet Jonathan Ross and his sidekick [sorry can't remember his name] wish they could re-wind a day.

Kind of what I thought. We don't know the story behind the story but it seems an extreme reaction.

Sometimes a prank leads to unforeseen outcomes. Should they be responsible? Yes. Should it lead to public hangings? No. The girl's reaction is extreme.

Legally, i think they could be in trouble.....lets not forget they were impersonating, it was a hoax call. Is that breaking the law….
