As previous post have said before i hook the ball quite often!

However i do not ever hook with wedges im consistant in terms of accuracy (only struggle with distance control).

Anyways my self diagnosis is that with irons and woods could i be trying to hit the ball to hard which is causing my hand to be too far forward etc?

Seems odd how i hardly ever move the ball with the wedges (full swing) yet 3wood - 9-irons they always turn the ball right to left!!

I NEVER slice the ball any more its always a hook! I sometime wish the slice would creep back as the duck / snap hook is a fault which is annoying so much that its made me close to giving golf up!

Suppose my point is this do other people have a tendancy to try and hit the ball too hard and is it a common amature fault?

matty, you fault could be grip or swing related but with teh wedge being such a short club isnt so apparent to show you the fault. When was the last lesson you had.

About 5 years ago! Ha!

When i was 16 i played to 13 having never had a lesson as such! Had a few then and played to 8-10 @ college - Im 22 now and havent had one since... i havent played much through uni etc and forfited me membership slow getting back into it and the hook has creeped in for the last 12 month, however at the moment its severe!!

I had a similar problem - unless I aimed for outside the right side of the green/fairway I would miss on the left!

Went to the pro, hit ten balls and he told me my fault..I did not believe him so he showed me the video and for sure he was right, why no one had ever mentioned it I don't know as it stopped me enjoying the game for a while.

The problem? The motif(spl) on my glove was facing the sky before the club head had hardly moved back from the ball. To hit the ball without doing this felt as if I was hitting the ball standing the wrong way round, that was how used I was to this bad habit.

100 balls on the range later, problem solved - best £25 I have ever spent on golf!

Looks a very good swing. A bit difficult to see the grip from that angle but is your left hand a bit strong? That would certainly cause your hook if it is.
If it's too strong you will be able to see 3 or 4 knuckles on your left hand.
