Normally love my hybrids, but have had a few nightmares with pull hooks with them for the past couple of rounds. So much so I've booked a lesson with the pro, but I'm also thinking I need a less upright style of hybrid like the APEX or the Titleist 818H2's - I hope it's a swing fault rather than new clubs - just because of the money!!!!

Has anyone else fallen foul to the hooks with their hybrids?

Yes I won a Titleist one in a open day I could not get on with it
Every shot was a pull/hook left I ended up selling it for 50 quid to a mate who had same problem I think it’s easier hit long irons than them things

Haha, my problems with hybrids have been well documented on here I think. I'm on my fourth hybrid now. I quite like it but still hit some duffs with it, and still slice it on occasion. The problem is when you hit a couple of nice ones with it which convinced you they're worth persisting with! Luckily for me, I can't hit long irons either so it's the lesser of two evils I'm after.

From my own experience and that of seeing others with them a lot of issues I see is people trying to hit them like woods rather than positioning the ball similar to an iron and swinging normally instead of forcing them.

Without knowing the proper shape of shot its hard for anyone to advise anything, sounds like best course of action is as you've done book in with pro and let. Him assess the situation

I would imagine this is the archer rather than the arrow.

Likely that your lesson will sort you out. I find a pull is generally as a result of using the upper body only and the swing is more arms. You end up swinging out to in and if the club is pointing further left than your path, the ball goes left and keeps going.

With me it's normally ball position. It just sneaks a bit forward, you hit it a bit later with a slightly closed face and the natural draw bias of most hybrids takes over.

Yep - my bad shot is/ was a pull hook left, very exaggerated with my hybrid. My woes are documented in another thread, but since I've been having lessons and practicing hard, very few pull hooks, and a lot more straighter shots.
