Hi Everybody,
i have just joined the forum and thought it would be nice to say hello. I had not played golf for more years than i care to mention when out of the blue my 15 yo son asked me to go to the range with him earlier this year. I forgot how much i used to enjoy getting out on the course just for the pure ambience of a misty early morning fairway if nothing else.
Anyhow, one thing has led to another and it has culminated in both of us joining a local club. We have just had a few rounds there together and are still getting to know the place. I only ever used to play with a friend of mine who unfortunately i lost touch with years ago but we had some good times on municipal courses and work society days.
I am looking forward to getting my handicap sorted out in the coming months in order to be able to compete in some of the club competitions.
As i am currently getting over Tennis elbow and not going to the Range near work lunchtimes it seemed like a good time register on the forum. I have enjoyed reading lots of the posts on here and i hope i can constructively contribute to the forum in the future.

Where do you play?
The two courses round there I remember I have played are Epsom Downs and Horton park.

First off thank you all for the warm welcome. It was a bit of a worry doing a first post as i am not to used to some of the terminology used. (Avatars etc..). I'm sure i'll get the hang of it though.

Surefire,
i recently joined Kingswood G&CC as a Country Club member. Basically i can play the course any time that is not before 11am at weekends. Prior to that my son and i played Oaks Park which is ok but gets extremely busy especially during school holidays.
Where do you play mostly?

I mainly play at Clandon Regis, just outside Guildford.

Would you believe I know Oaks Park and have played there! When you started playing there did you ever get lessons from Craig or Mike?

Unfortunately I haven't played Kingswood. I think I know the place though. Am I right in thinking it is on Outwood Lane, a bit further up from Chipstead golf club?

Welcome to the greatest forum on the web. I know your area very well. I was a member (and assistant pro) at Wimbledon Common for ages but I've played Horton park (shot 71) and used their range a lot. I've also played Epsom (up on the downs by the racecourse) and the review of it on the review competition board brough back memories.

I've not played Kingswood (not sure where it is) but it sounds like you have found yourself a decent home. If you fancy it there is a GM society day not too far from you at my course next April which you would be more than welcome at and can put some names to faces.

Enjoy yourself here. I'm sure you will find a lot of people willing to try Kingswood (HTL and myself) and so you won't be short of a game. Enjoy the banter and get posting!
