Hi Newbie here and my first golf forum! Ive decided in 2012 to get back into the game I once loved,I started playing in 92 and loved the game playing 3 times a week, watching golf on tv,reading golf books and caddying on the european seniors tour.Three years after taking the game up I managed to get down to an 7 handicap with consistant high 70`s rounds.Thing is I couldnt get any better and found it very fustrating and my game started to suffer.I stuck with the game for another 15 years, having lessons hitting thousands of range balls but could never get back to my best,I went from a 7 to hitting rounds in the 90`s which I do to this day.I fell out of love with the game but it was always "there".My golf mind set totally changed and I even started thinking what is the point in hitting a little white ball across a field!.In the last 2 years I have played just twice.
Guess some of you guys have been in the same situation and I wonder if you still enjoy the game even thou you dont play as well as you once did.I feel I need just one good round to get the golfing bug back again...
Cheers

Welcome. Similar to you I got my handicap down to 7 by the age of 16 and gave up completely 3 years later when I couldn't improve any further. Work and women also got in the way. 30 years later and my wife suggests I take it up again. 18 months later and my handicap is back to 8 and I enjoy every minute of it. Just need to get my ECG sorted (Expanded Christmas Gut) and I shall be working on my short game to get a couple more strokes off my handicap. Enjoy the forum - a nice blend of information and subtle rowdiness.

welcome Shivas

I also had a 'break' when I was disalusioned with the game when other real life aspects took over, however the last 2 years I've got a burning passion for the game again and a goal for 2012 that would frighten the French:rolleyes:

hope you enjoy the banter and 'discussions' with us old folk:whistle:

Welcome - also fairly new round here and NOT a bloke

Welcome! :)

Your question is one I've been pondering myself, though hopefully won't have to 'cross the bridge' for a while yet.

One of the things I love about golf is the desire to improve, and I don't know if I'd be happy playing when my game deteriorates to the stage where I don't have any chance to improve again. Hopefully that's a long way off.
