I have been measured up for a set of Ping i15's but hadn't ordered them yet. Today I was down the range and the pro had me trying the Mizuno JPX800 Pro (forgiving but top line too fat for my liking)and the MP-53 which I really liked. I now don't know which way to go, I was all set to go with the i-15's but the MP-53's are a nicer looking club, cast v forged etc
Has anyone experience of either of these?

I don't know about the MP-53's, but I have MP-57's (not many people know this :D) and they are teh awesome and great looking clubs. Not seen the JPX's in the flesh so can't comment, but I've never been a fan of Ping irons.

Best thing to do is to try them all and see which suit you best. Go with your own feeling.

I haven't tried either but I've played with Mizuno irons for 14 years so I'm biased. However, I know there are also guys who love their Pings. I'm not getting into that debate!

Other things being equal I'd say if you prefer the look of a particular club I think it will give you confidence when you set up and you're more likely to play well with it.

I love the I15 and forget about the forged v cast thing. Unless you really trying to shape shots then you won't notice any real difference. I have hit the MP52's and to be honest I'd say the Ping were the friendlier club to hit. It's not about what the club looks like but how it performs and havingbeen fitted I'd be going with the Ping. If you want a second option and still fancy a more bladed look with some forgiveness what about the new S56's in the spec you were measured for? A much more traditional look and still a fair degree of forgiveness.

Hold on Homer you play Taylormade .

I personally think you need to play with a set of irons for at least a few months to be able to give a proper review of them. No offence intended. :D

If you cannot make your mind up keep looking, if no club grabs you then hang on to your cash. They're all good clubs so there is no wrong choice and there are lots of other good ones out there but you want to be sure when you pitch up on the first tee there are no doubts. Marry in haste, repent at leisure -same goes for buying clubs.

I do but had the benefit of an extensive trial with the I15 and S56 at a Ping demo day including hitting off grass so have a reasonably objective view on how they felt - for me at least.
