Been mulling over something that Region3 touched on in a post that i replied to a few days ago..
While i can hit my long irons ok (average) i do struggle a little with the 4 iron off the fairway and off the tee at times. You know the picture ill hit where i want the ball to finish 3 times out of 10 and miss right or left with the rest..
I had been playing a little safer of late laying up on longer par 4 and the par 5's just to keep a round going..But to be honest my conclusion is that aggressive golf and conservative golf are 50/50...

So iv decided to drop my 4 iron and go with another i15 hybrid but the trouble is iv got a big yardage gap...(Im working in mtrs so bare with me)

I hit my 5 iron 158 mtrs on average 173 yards. Its a club that i always use on our par3 2nd at 158 off the white in perfect conditions.
Here's the catch...I hit my 3h roughly 200 mtrs as its the club i use the most off our par 3 13th at 197 mtrs.

So how do i cover 42 mtrs with a hybrid and what loft do i need...
Our par 3 4th is 168 mtrs off the white tee's and this is where i would use the 4 iron so i need that covered too.

Im pretty accurate with the 3h that i have but im unsure how to close 42mtrs.
All help welcome :(

I think so guys but the problem is that if im correct in seeing what i read about hybrids is that even though they are stamped with the lofts a 3h will go further than a 3 iron...So do i get 4 and 5 hybrids to cover the 42 mtrs...I cant see 1 club covering this.

23 deg is the highest loft they list, so not quite sure what else to suggest. Have you somewhere nearby where you can test them to see how they they go for you? I don't hit it anywhere near as far as you, but I do find that the equivalent Rapture club that I have is quite versatile - maybe because of the shorter shaft - and can cover quite a range of shots with it - including distances - whether it is stretch across 42m, don't know.

Just checked there Swingslow.

I have nowhere that i can check to see the difference either.
23 deg is the highest they go...Comparing this to my 4 iron thats 24 deg and is a full 1.5in shorter than the hybrid and you can see my dilemma.

I do find I can vary the swing speed on the 4 hybrid more easily than I could on the equivalent iron and still keep it on line, so that might be a solution, but without a fitting centre or place where you can try it close by, it's an expensive gamble.

How far does your 5 wood go?

I dropped it pal.As the 3h goes the same distance and at times a little further..So i slung in a gap wedge at the other end.
That being said it was a wilsonstaff FWC 5 wood and i think that it would have been 6 or 7 years old...

kid, have you thought about having a lesson or 2 and learn to hit your 4 iron consistantly? It will be a lot cheaper than a new hybrid.

Hey Kid-what's in your bag at the moment?

You're not going to fill a 50 yard gap with one club - get one slap bang in the middle and you have 25 yards either side..

As per my Sig. Murg....
i carry 4-PW i10's
2 wedges at 52 and 56
3 wood G15
and a 3h i15

It'll be shorter, therefore wont go as far as the graphite shaft. Less "whip" too. I had a 23 degree Cleveland launcher hybrid with a steel shaft - still went a long way but not as far as a graphite version I tried.

Cheers Murg.
I'll have a ponder on it over the week and see...
My other option maybe to get a G10 4 iron and see what happens then...
I could maybe choke down on the 20 deg hybrid to spread the distance gap there too...

Thanks for the help fella's. ;)
