I posted a V-Easy off to Jedburgh yesterday and 10 mins ago I got an email saying I had a parcel not delivered. Opened the email attachment and bang. Trojan.
So much for my anti Virus stuff installed
Anyway.
Now when I turn on the laptop, It goes straight to a programme called Palladium I think.
I switched it off straight away but I know it's too late.
I know I can reinstall The Operating system but that will wipe everything from my hard drive.
Do I have a choice?

Sorry can't help you with that but know there is a virus email going around that says your parcel could not be delivered see delivery note attached. Usually from Postal Services Express or something similar. To anyone else who gets this message, just delete it do not open.

Hope you get it sorted Bob.

I've had about 5 of them so far. Luckily I open my emails on my phone before computer and the phone wouldn't let me open the attachment. I then googled it and turns out its a Trojan email.

As said before, good luck and hope you get it sorted. I'm sure there must be some computer buffs on here that know what they're talking babout.

Bob

sounds like its a bogus anti virus program but that any data on your pc is only compromised if you actually run the software so all may not be lost. There are multiple sites offering advice on how to remove this (it appears to have turned up around the new year)

http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-palladium-pro.html

Thanks Fundy.
So far so good, got my desktop back. :)
Now to get rid :D :D :D

I had the same thing happen to me about 3 months ago.
Paid some local guy £35.00 to take my PC away and get rid.
He's just come back from a one month break in the Carribean

I'm on the PC now but it looks as if its going to be ok.
I have my stuff backed up on an old HUGE 40GB external hard drive which I've being meaning to upgrade for a while now. It's getting a bit full.
Has anyone tried the Clickfree systems?

Happened to my dad's pc and his friend from work gave him a program called 'trojan killer' which was very easy to remove it.

I always find the best protection from viruses is not to download from untrusted sites and open spam attachments, always scan file first.

That said I've been through its easy to do and the chinaman are clever.

Reinstalling your operating system shouldn't wipe your data, Bob. Good luck!

Done.
As computer was starting, I press ALT and F10, this basically restores the computer back to how it was the day I bought it.
At least that nasty trojan has gone :)
