Hi Forumers,

I need a bit of advise from you.

I joined my local golf club last season, and half way though the season I spoke to the Club manager about a locker, because keeping my 'stuff' at home clutters up my shed or anywhere else in the house where I try to keep them.

Having spoken to him again in November, still nothing.

This season arrived in April and having paid the extra for a locker I spoke to his replacement who once again promised a 'locker' Two weeks ago they couldnt find the new keys that had been cut. Last week they had the keys,........but they didnt have the 'Security Fob' so that I could access the outside locker room...............aaaarrrggggghhhhh!!!!.

Went back down today, and STILL no security fob. It made me unusually angry (Im usually a very placid kinda guy) and stormed off not even going out for a few holes

Am I making too much of this ???...or it this the way most clubs act when a simple locker request is made??

I know its probably a very petty problem, but I dont know whether I should just wait until somebody sorts it out at the Club, or keep pestering them till Ive got one??

What do you think??

If you have paid I'd have said they need to be providing you with the locker or giving you a pro-rata refund. If they say no then tell them that they have charged for good/services that they haven't provided and that you'll take Citiziens Advice/legal action and telling the local press. Nothing like the thought of negative publicity to get the ball rolling.

I have to say for me my locker is a godsend. I keep my practice balls and several training aids there all year and now I can get up in the evenings my clubs will live there too. As I commute, I can easily leave some shoes there and get the train from Reading to Ascot and then walk or jump in a cab and HID can pick me up after she finishes work.

Going, or threatening, the Citizen's Advice route this early in the season might be satisfying but could be a recipe for a long uncomfortable year, and the probability of finding a new club next.

That said, you have paid for a service that you are not getting. Make a formal appointment with the manager, at which you expect to receive keys and fob or a really good reason (and we can't find it does not cut it) why not. make sure they haven't double sold the lockers.

Just go plonk all your stuff in the managers office and ask him for a spare key till he fnds the locker ones :D

I must say, at my club with have a couple hundred and probably more than double that many male members. I got a choice of about 20 as soon as I joined. I even got one in the spot I wanted.

I would keep on raising the subject with them, everytime you are passing, and maybe a few times on the phone.

But I wouldn't be as aggressive as some suggest.

A polite, but insistant expectation, and letting him know that you're not going to let it lie will get it sorted for you.

A sort of ''I know you are increadibly busy, this must take up so much of your time, won't it be great when you we can get it sorted and you wont have me phoning you up every day'' type of speech is what I'd go for.

I think he'll get the message without threats
