It was pretty cold last night when I walked in with all the windows open all day and it's very chilly this morning, trying my best to resist putting the heating on

Have we been spoilt with such long spells of hot weather that we'll now feel the cold and change even more?

I can see me putting a couple of extra layers on this morning, clear blue skies but's it's quite a cutting chilly breeze, no doubt some young daft lads will still have their shorts and polo's on, or is it an age thing smiley-char124.gif

Sitting outside having breakfast as I have done the past two months but yep there's another layer on this morning. I've resisted the temptation to put my thermal thong on however.

It’s an age thing,or you need to change your butcher.
Heating won’t be going on for a while yet.

Just nice fresh morning for a couple of days whilst a cold weather front comes through - back to above average temps from Monday , still plenty of time for shorts , they reckon this weather will last until mid october with Winter these days not really starting until Jan !!

Think it’s age old boy........

Shorts to work this morning, and having checked the forecast, I’ll be leaving trousers at home when I head off form,y captains weekend on Friday.

Hopefully not...
I wear shorts 365 unless it gets to below or near zero degree conditions...

In truth, been too hot for me this summer as the heat plays havoc with my arthritis...
First summer of retirement though and I am not complaining too much...

Short answer, its flippin' boiling. 36* in the shade. Sweated like a sweaty thing out on the course this morning. Aircon now full on in the house, and just about to take a dip in the pool.

Certainly finished in Cumbria, most of August has been cool and wet.
10 degrees yesterday lunchtime but not complaining as 2nd half of May, June and July were fabulous.
Just expect non stop rain until next May now.

A couple of times I have got up in the evening and thought about putting the heating on, looked at the thermostat and realised that I would not have the heating on at that temperature in winter.

It's an adjustment thing.

The shorts however have been packed away in the wardrobe and I have started to wear autumn weight polo shirts.

I had to smile on Bank Holiday Monday, we had a 8.30 start shot gun comp. I spoke to one guy wearing shorts and a light weight shirt when I saw him after the round he had added a jumper and waterproof trousers.

My birthday is early September, so I usually recall it still being warm around that time. Then again this year has been different already since it was hot for an unprecedented length of time, so perhaps the late/'indian' summer won't happen this time.

With wor lass working in a a school I generally take one or both of the last two weeks in August off, they have been over the past few years been rubbish, while the first week in September is generally very warm and sunny. This week as I'm now back to work, is fair, sunny and warm outside.

If you follow the various weather feeds on twitter, the general consensus is for the first week of September to be warm, the middle of September to be unsettled, wet and for it to become dry and settled at the end and into October. Though how accurate that will be remains to be seen.

The longer range forecasts are predicting a front load winter with snow in November and into December, with the end of winter being cold, wet and windy. I hope so, I'll happily take snow as the nights get darker, but once the night start to get shorter, no snow please.

Just grabbed from Twitter - "One thing that is very certain is that first half of September will be dominated by high pressure, therefore plenty of settled and warm weather."

Lovely and warm here in central london today...going to sit on the roof terrace and watch the planes for a while in a minute.

It's not finished here yet, still got high 20s during the day and I was walking round in a light shirt and jeans at 10pm Wednesday night. Hopefully we can squeeze another 4 weekends out of it and won't need umbrellas to keep managements white dress dry!

been nice here, 20 is yesterday in Inverness and lovely again today. not worn waterproofs since March and still in shorts though its dark now by 9.30 and feels autumnal after 6.30 of an evening
