The main football transfer targets that have been all over the back pages and in the news for the last few weeks, are missing there clubs next match due to injury

Rooney, Bale and now Suarez all have an 'injury'

Do these football clubs really think the public is daft enough to believe that?

They are left out for footballing reasons, I.E unsettled or asking for a move away. It's that simple. I don't understand the "Oh he's picked up a knock in training" malarky.

Why do clubs feel the need to lie to their fan base?

Because the majority of football fans are from the working class, ergo they are less intelligent than us golfers?

hehehe!

it does amaze me Gareth, i really dont want suarez to leave LFC, he is a fantastic "footballing" talent. (wont get into the debate on him) but as a player, he is the best we have had for some time.

90% of football fans dont attend games and believe everything the Suns sport pages tell them

No they don't think that - in fact they don't really care what their fans think of such matters. It's business.

It's the beginning of August. Summer fairways and greens, a test match to go, schools are on holiday, the BBQ's are in action etc. etc. and nearly all the sports sections of papers are full of football. Aaaa.
In answer to the OP. A disgruntled employee is a liability for any employer and any employee who is sniffing after a job for more money will not be trying very hard and or will be taking lots of time off. Footballers,'injuries' we mortals 'illness'.

It has been like this for many a season. Clubs are trying to keep fans happy when a key player wants to leave and they will use the "injury" line to excuse him from attending training, matches etc. Of course when the player inevitably goes, the club will say, they couldn't stand in his way, it was too good a price, the player was becoming a disruptive influence etc to try and justify to the same fans why their star man is suddenly surplus to requirements

The old "injury line" isn't just to keep the fans happy,it's also a way of wrapping the player in cotton wool before he leaves. Imagine if Bale got a serious injury in a pre season friendly. Spurs would have to wave good bye to £85m+.

If Spurs / Manure / Liverpoll, do not know what to do with these want away players they could loan 'em out to us (MTFC) for a bit....free of course. I'm sure we could fit them into our team somewhere.
