This afternoon I played in our midweek medal where I shot a new PB of 77 (+7) gross which equates to a net 62. I am yet to see the results but the cut should bring me down to 12.9 which will mean that I will have halved my handicap in only a year. Back when I started at the end of August last year I was hoping to make it to 18 this year so am obviously extremely pleased with my progress.

Today everything just seemed to work, although 3 of the shots I did drop were on the holes deemed the easiest by the stroke index and ones I was not getting a shot on. A special mention must go to HawkeyeMS too who was part of my three ball and shot a gross 75 and net 66.

People are gonna start asking questions if we keep playing comps together. Last time out I shot a 74 for my PB and this time Sundance rides into town with a gross 77.

First time I played with Sundance he was off 26 and wanting to get to 18 by the end of the year. At the time I told him he be lower than that but I didn't see him getting this low in the space of 7 months. He'll be at single figures before me at this rate.

My 76 is good enough to get my exact below 10, probably to 9.9 assuming CSS is 68 and is the first time ever I've broken 80 twice in a week after shooting 75 on Tuesday. But aside from all that I'm just glad I beat Sundance on gross scores, it won't be long before it's the other way round.

Well played mate, it was great to see and well deserved.

Nice one sundance, but why couldn't you do that in the lambert trophy ? you probably only played a COUPLE of shots under your handicap in that one !! (lol)
Well done matey

I was hoping it didn't come across like that, I tried to put something in the message but couldn't come up with the right wording. Apologies if it did, it wasn't my intention, just trying to share my joy with fellow golfers. Congratulations on your cut too, like you say, its one thing getting the cut and another playing to the new handicap, I guess I'll find out if I can this weekend.

Sundance - How much practice and effort (driving range/back garden etc) have you put in over the year from being a 25 - 12 HC?

Great shooting btw

Thanks all.

The majority of my practice has been on course playing except for the winter period. Through the months where I couldn't play after work I probably went to the range twice a week and then played once or twice on the weekend. When the clocks changed earlier in the year it meant I could get back out on the course, I probably play about 3/4 times a week and will use the practice facilities at my club if I feel there is a particular part of my game that needs some work.

I was going to add that to my post. I am almost 24, single with no kids so that makes it easier for me to get out on the course/down the range whenever I like. I appreciate not everyone has it that easy and I'm sure if they could put in the same amount of time I do they could probably do the same.

Blimey Sundance that is pretty tasty and you are nearly down to my 12.6. Great shooting but not happy with my partner Hawkeye going too low with the greensomes coming up next month. Only joking Mike. Well played and bodes well for both of you in the Longhurst this weekend
