What is the world coming to?

It seems that the average motorist is just a target to take money off. Thought that patrol cars and cameras were there to keep motorists safe and remind people to obey the traffic laws, i honestly don't see what this guy did wrong to merit a prosecution. Especially when there are so many real criminals out there that need dealt with.............. :D

He was done for obstructing the police or something similar wasn't he, which seems fair enough to me. The police had obviously set the speed trap up somewhere where they expected to catch people speeding, if he's tipped them off then he's guilty.

If the police set a trap to catch some house robbers, is it OK to tip the thieves off if you know the police are waiting ?

Isn't anyone who breaks the law a "real criminal"

You're right, but i don't see what this guy did as being what i would regard as breaking the law.

Nor does he but the CPS see it different. Obstructing a Police Officer in the performance of their duty.

Why would you want to warn people who are speeding that there's a camera around the corner?
It's there own look out.

As far as I'm aware the only reason that you're allowed to flash your headlights is to bring attention to another driver that you are there.

However. Common uses include;

You may pull out.
Hello mate!
Pull out of the middle lane you ignorant git!
Pull out off the 'fast lane' because my journey is more important than yours.
Turn your lights on you numpty.
I'm annoyed at you.
Oh look, another MGB, the same as ours.
As a warning of impending danger around the corner for on-coming traffic.
Turn your fog lights off!
Turn your full beam off you ........
Get off your phone!

And so it goes on!

And so on.

So does this make crime prevention illegal.

I knew this was the case because I got told off with a verbal warning more than 10 years ago. I agree that motorists are a cash cow for the government but more alarming is that they are seen as easy solvable crimes by the Polis. They catch you speeding, no seatbelt, jumping an amber light and its a crime and its solved all in the one go thus keeping up their targets.

Get off your phone!

Now that is my pet hate.......

Almost every day i see people driving and holding a phone to their ear. Handsfree sets are so cheap now and even then i'll park up before using it.

And it's normally people driving £30,000+ motors!!

They can afford expensive cars but not <£50 for a handfree kit.

Poor.

Is the right answer.........

Which, theorethically (sp!), means that you can legitimately flash middle lane hoggers then?

Just as a point of order you know!!! ;)

Only if the outside lane is blocked and you have no legitimate means of overtaking.

Personally I'd just like to ram them..... :D

How about 'waving' at them and opening your window to 'inform' them of their driving style????

Only if you're using the correct finger!

Ever since the NHS, Police, Amublance service have had govnt targets to hit, the service has gone downhill. Managers and pen pushers have been employed to make sure that targets are hit, regardless of the 'real' facts. Manipulation, massaging and 'easy' targets do not make a 'good' service. Moan over with.

Of course the ouside lane is blocked. It's filled with Beemers and Audi's doing 95 only three feet from each others bumpers, and flashing each other. Though for which of my previously listed reasons for flashing, I don't know. Perhaps all of them! :D

Good point. You'd think stopping a crime (even a motoring offence) was commendable..."hey mate one of your headlights is out".

To me the issue lies within the name... speed TRAP.

If they want you to slow down they should put up signs "Mobile cash cow ahead"

A few years ago a local radio presenter got a call from merseyside police to warn him to stop mentioning in his travel updates where the mobile speed camera's where catching speeding motorists. He was threatenend with being charged aswell.
