Just an update on my previous post.

I have been to the range for the last 3 nights now and have changed over to the varden overlap grip suggested by Brendy.

On monday I was all over the place I hit 100 balls with different clubs and they went everywhere including behind me, I felt as if the club was going to fly out of my hands so ended up gripping it too hard.

Tuesday was a major improvement, I spent a good half an hour in the garden after work just swinging the club before going to the rangeI think just swinging and not hitting a ball may have helped as everything felt much more relaxed and natural.

Last night I again spent some time in the garden before my visit and I found my shots were straighter and I felt I had a little more control over the shape of the shot.So I am one happy golfer so far.

Thanks for all the advice will see how it goes in my first full round on saturday weather permitting. :D

Hiting it behind you! That takes something special, guy at the range did it last night, hit the steel roof first with a massive bang to alert all the people to look. He left soon after.

Topped it into the kerb stone in front of me came back and rattled around the bay :o

I left soon after that too.

I did the opposite last winter and went interlocking, feels like I've played that way always now. For me I have better control of the club with interlocking. If interlocking is good enough for Jack and Tiger it's good enough for me, don't care what Nick Bradley says, his book is naff too, might put it on the GM swapshop!

I managed to hit the side of the bay last night. Mind you, it wasn't supposed to hit the ball at all, just a practice swing. Trouble is, no one else knew that.

Birdie I was surprised how quickly I felt comfortable with the change, was convinced it would take ages but after 3 visits and 300 balls it seems to be working ok, how quickly did you adapt to changing?

I have just spent 20mins in the back garden trying the varden grip. Feels strange but I feel like I have more control over the club on the downswing. i'm gonna give it a try up the range on Saturday.

If you dont try it you cant knock it :)
I started with the interlocking grip but soon got tired of my hands getting sore, the varden grip stopped the aches altogether. Strange as you would expect the more involving grip to be easier to use but nope.
