I do a little photography from time to time, mainly to take nice pictures of the family and grand-daughter.
I use a Canon R6, that I find perfect. My (Canon) lenses are EF mounts, and the current 24-105L is now playing up giving an error. I know I could get it fixed, but I see used ones going now very cheaply (from reputable stores).
I don't though see the point of getting another EF mount lens, when going to RF means I can remove the EF-RF adapter on the camera meaning the complete package is then smaller and less obtrusive.
Having looked at the new RF 24-105L, I see from reputable stores they are about £1200 and what I assume are grey imports (new) for £800.
Do you consider a grey import worth the risk or not?
I accept a Canon lens isn't likely to play up so back up shouldnt be needed, but I also know many stores won't take a grey import as part ex, but should that be a worry?

I think I saw in one of the photographic forums that there might be warranty issues with grey imports. Worth checking…

How about a used one from the many used dealers out there?

I currently use a Canon R5 and would definitely change the lens to an RF and not renew an EF fit. I have bought from importers before but thankfully not had any failures that require warranty calls. That said I did do quite a bit of research and was happy about purchasing based upon on the service Panamoz and HDEW seemed to offer.

FWIW, I’d recommend using Canon’s “test the lense” service. It was free to have a couple of RF L zooms for a few days. They also then offer a discount/rebate if you buy the model you rented. Personally, I either buy new (again Canon offers various rebates throughout the year) or used from a local shop with their warranty.

Also agree RF is superior to EF via adapter, you get better focus etc.
