We had 4 full time, now cut to 3 one being part time. They have a tough jobs as we are a municipal course with lots of traffic, however i do feel privately owned courses seem to have greenkeepers that care more and do a more thorough job.
1 full time greenkeeper and 1 guy who just works in the summer. If there is a major project on the go then the members generally muck in and help where they can.
we at south leeds have 3 and if im correct they dont work 7 days a week and i think our course has some of the best fairways in the area and when the greens come good they are hard to beat
When you say expecting too much, are you talking all year round or just recently. Remember, there is very little green staff can do during the winter months presentation wise as grass just doesn't grow under 6 degrees centigrade. It's only been a few weeks since temps have began rising.
Our green staff work hard all year round but there is only so much they can do for the grass. Last week we saw a big change in the course, fairways are pin sharp again looking down from the teeboxes etc. Give them some slack and see how it developed now.
6Plus head green keeper. Keep saying it on here but new head green keeper knows how to get them working. Never seen so much work done on coursr never stopped for bad weather. First for everything
I think we have 5 full time and they work really hard on the course all year with the changes Paul McGinley is making to the course and we are lucky that with being a links course it is generally in fantastic condition in the summer and just really really good in the winter
Dont know if I would fancy being a greenkeeper when it is pissing down and cold/windy then to have all the members moaning about the course.
