Hi all ,can anyone tell me if there has been a post a while ago about which gps system to buy with a budget of £350.00 please.
Why would chatting to a pro help for a GPS?
Buy a new driver and get an app for your phone. I have got free caddies pro on my Galaxy SIII and it is as good as any of my mates GPS devices. Infact by using google maps you get a perfec tmap of your course and you can mark certain places on that course and then you will get distances to them also.
Great idea... Right up until you try/want to use in a comp...
Why can you not use it in a comp then?
Smartphone driven GPS applications dont comply with the rules. There have been numerous threads on here about it.
Not read any threads about this. I tend to stay clear of most of the GPS threads as they turn into arguments about the rights and wrongs. But in short why do they not comply? They do not measure temperature, wind speed and direction, or elevations.
Why can you not use it in a comp then?
Actually they do. Most smartphones have weather apps built in. They also have compass applications or navigation apps that utilise compass bearings.
Therefore they do not comply. Your club will or should have more detail on acceptable DMDs for comptition use.
OK mate I see what you are saying. Not going to go over old ground with the arguement on smartphones though. Thanks for the reply...
