Golfer with no arms

I played golf with a bloke who had one arm once - a left one. We played at a windy clifftop course in Donegal. He tried valiantly to play a tough windy course with a tee shot which went 100 yards forward and 40 years right, and getting the ball out of the rough with only one arm was impossible. He lost more balls than I thought it was possible to hold in one golf bag.

Fair play to him for his perseverance, but it was torture for me and the other playing partner.

thats incredible, makes me ashamed to not play just when the weathers bad, when this poor fella had a real handicap.

we used to play a guy in the junior team matches who only had one arm. Played off 2 and i'm sure he played for the county and was possible county champion a few times. He had a white pole type thing as a left arm,his arm was amputated below the elbow. Hit the ball miles too.

There was a guy in Bermuda who worked at one of the golf clubs called Herby who lost his right arm. Apparently he was a 16 hcap with two arms and an 8 hcap with one!!

I've seen a video of an American guy, who had lost both his arms from the elbow joint down, so he had no hands. That was reputed to be from a train accdient when he was 2.

The guy played off about 12 and his swing was great, it was on plane and with a nice full hinge of the club and release through impact (without wrists) really do show how little the hands need to do in the golf swing. I'm not saying they aren't useful for fine tuning, but the basic cocking action and release will happen naturally if you let it.
