I really enjoyed my visit to the Open at Portrush which I thought was a fantastically well organised event. But is there anyone else like me who can't understand why no one has banned umbrellas from the grandstands yet? They ruin the view of many people in the stands and the people using them are totally thoughtless and selfish, soaking the people behind them with the rainwater they manage to keep from themselves. It happens every year. Surely anyone attending a golf competition can dress weather appropriately without ruining the experience for others. It is an outdoor sport after all. I have contacted the Open for their thoughts but have yet o receive a reply.
