Hi
I have just bought a motocaddy s1 and charging the battery .
Once it is fully charged do you leave it plugged in when not in use or do you just charge after a round then unplug ?

Thanks for any replies.

Should say in the manual about battery care, I would follow that first. Unless you were like me and bought 2nd hand and didnt get a manual. I did find one online though. http://www.motocaddy.com/uk/instruction-manuals/

The trolley only did 2 seasons before it practically fell apart. Didnt help my course was rather hilly and I also let it roll into a lake...

EDIT:

This is the blurb from the online manual, someone might have stuff to add:

Battery Care and Advice
All batteries must be charged as soon as possible after each use. Leaving batteries discharged for long periods of time will
affect the battery life.
Please ensure that only batteries supplied by Motocaddy are charged with Motocaddy chargers. Cyclic battery chargers are
designed specifically in accordance with the battery manufacturer’s requirements. The Lithium battery charger MUST NOT be
used to charge any other battery and is designed for use with Motocaddy Lithium batteries only.
The charger should only be connected to an earthed socket outlet; the battery charger should only be opened and maintained
by authorised personnel. Unauthorised opening will invalidate your warranty.
The battery must be stored and charged on a dry non-carpeted surface and charged at temperatures ranging between 10°C
and 30°C. Charging above or below these temperatures is not recommended as it can reduce the battery capacity.
When connecting your battery to the trolley, please ensure that the connections match up black to black and blue/red to blue
depending on your battery type.

It is followed by lead acid battery care and lithium battery care.

From what I understand from reading the above you just charge it, take it off when done and use when needed. Unless you are not using it for a few months, then you follow the hibernating instructions, topping back up at 6 week intervals.

I have a motocaddy s1 with a lucas gel acid battery. I charge it after each round until the charge light turns green then unplug it. I have had this battery for 2 years and it still does 36 holes one one charge easily. Don't keep the battery in a cold place at winter because if it freezes it damages the cells.

Hmmm. If it freezes it will probably burst the casing. A fully charged deep cycle battery (for electric trolleys) will freeze at approx -92*f (that's cold brrrr). A 40% charged battery will freeze at about 5*f. An 80% discharged one will freeze at about 19*f. If you have got a battery that you keep more discharged than that then you need a new one - whatever the temperature.

Oh, just a note for LI battery owners. Beware of charging at around freezing point or below.
