A colleague and I are looking into attending a golf residential tuition weekend and I hoped to avail myself of some feedback of such courses from fellow forum members.

We're both high handicappers. I have had some tuition but I'm dissatisfied with the coach who appears to treat each lesson as an entirely new session (contradicting his own advice on occasion) and I'm now curious as to whether a full two-day session would help.

Particularly I've looked at options at Rudding Park (http://www.ruddingpark.co.uk/golf/residential-golf-school/beginner/) and Celtic Manor (http://www.celtic-manor.com/stay-and-study).

Can anyone tell me their impressions of the residentials please?

Personally, and only my own opinion, I think you'd be better off looking for a different teaching pro. Word of mouth is the best recommendation and I think the money you'd spend on a weekend course would be better invested in a course of lessons and a playing lesson. I'd find them too intensive and not enough time to work on drills or practice each aspect. Where are you based and have you spoken to the pro you're currently using. It should be a two way street and he should appreciate your feedback but if you're not happy look elsewhere

Thanks Homer. Your opinion mirrors my own. My current pro came by word of mouth and I don't know if I'm expecting too much but I seem to need to remind him what we've done previously and, despite me buying a block of 6 lessons, I don't feel he has the long-term approach to it. It's almost as though each session is entirely discrete.

Based in Sheffield and lessons out at Pete Cowen's in Rotherham. Going to try another pro in Sheffield.
