Hi All

So we have booked one of our summer holidays this year and have decided to stay local to the U.K for this year (little one on the way shortly after so can't fly anywhere) and we decided to go to Wales.

We're staying in Pembrokeshire, in a town called Solva on the coast.

I would really like to get some Golf in. I can possibly get 1 or 2 rounds in somewhere. Can anyone with local knowledge of the area suggest where to play? I've had a look around on Google for some course and it looks like there are a fair few in Pembrokeshire but I am also aware that it is a big place, and an area I have never been too.

So any good recommendations?

Best courses down that way are Tenby which isn't too far away and Ashburnham which is a bit further. Both links courses and highly rated.

I go to Pembrokeshire most years and always get a few rounds in. Amazing part of the country. Normally seem to get pretty lucky with the weather but you should probably bank on getting at least a day of rain. It is Wales, after all!

There are actually more courses there than you might think.

Tenby is a classic links, oldest club in Wales, I think. Pretty tough when windy as you'd expect.

St David's City is a 9 hole links and just down the road from Solva. Facilities are pretty basic (no real clubhouse and an honesty box for green fees) but the course itself is by no means straightforward. Would probably be good for a quick twilight round.

Newport Links is another nice course. The original 9 holes are more like a classic links with the newer ones not quite as good but always a fun round.

As well as those there are parkland courses in Letterston (Priskilly Forest), Milford Haven, and Haverfordwest.

Just outside Pembrokeshire, Cardigan is a great track, cliff top/links and quite challenging. Definitely recommended and worth the journey.

Even without any golf I'm sure you'll have a great holiday. Haha, sounds like I work for the Wales tourist board but I do love the place!

Pembrokeshire is a beautiful part of the UK. Tenby is a cracking course and the town is a great place for a few beers and a good meal. Can't wait to go back.
