Holiday booked in Anglesey, first week of August.

Never played there before but I've already made a quick search through the internet and Bull Bay has got me excited!

Has anybody played any of the courses there and can offer any advice on which to play, features, etc?

Bull Bay is lovely, Nefyn gets all the plaudits but Bull Bay is better. I've heard good things about Anglesey GC too but never played it. A bit further drive, the back nine at Portmadog is superb Pwehelli is a cracker too.

Enjoy

Holyhead is very nice, was in fantastic condition when I played there last year. It was a perfect summer evening which helped no end!

I go on holiday to some holiday homes on Anglesey, that is actually on a golf course, Henllys :-

Some great holes on the course, a good variety of different holes, a bit of walking between some of the holes tho. Front nine is fairly short, depending what you are after. Nice food in the clubhouse.

Thanks chaps, nice to hear good reports.

There's certainly a choice of courses for a small area, I make it four 18 holers and three 9 holers.

Bull Bay currently still favourite but I've got a feeling I might be sneaking a twilight or two on other courses when the family aren't looking. :D

Bull Bay is pretty fine - but beware if its windy. It's elevated position means you may need to aim at right angles to where you want the ball to finish.

Anglesey GC is also very good - nice links course

Not played it, but have heard good things about Henllys (now that takes me back - Henllys Hall used to be just a hotel back in the late 70s - used to go to student p1ss-ups in the cellars. Spent many a night sleeping on their lawn).

Baron Hill GC is (I am sure) what I used to know as Beaumaris GC - which was just a field. Aerial photos suggest it still is.

Bull bay is a lovely course, if you only play one play that. If you want a knock on another day and don't want to travel, try Caernarfon you'll get a round for about a tenner and there are some lovely views, you'll be next to the straights for much of the round.
