Golf Club Promotions.......

lol - I did have the benefit of playing with a Member who told me the line everywhere, and amazingly, they generally went where I intended that day !!
Even avoided every bunker too !

T'wasnt long though......

The touble with a premier club is that usually the fees are high, but the membership are normally a little better off

I'm playing in an Open competition at Hankley Common in August. It's a lovely course, one of the best down this way, and in a "monied" area.
Mens yearly subscription? £1,295.00.
Joining fee? 3 x subscription = £3,885.00

Total first year to become a member??? £5,180.00

That's why i joined Blackmoor. Hankley Common is the closest course to me, but no way was i going to pay 5k to join.

We lost 26 members at the recent membership renewal date, which is not too bad.

Retentions are not our problem, but we struggle to get a lot of new members, as very few people have heard of the club.

I have heard of Blackmoor and was interested in joining until I got the full fees (which is reasonable for the area I must add) but not when I will only play between 10 - 15 times a year due to children / wife etc.

Certainly like the sound of membership to members over 15 miles away.

Generally I think if clubs want more potential members then they need to offer 'limited round' per year or purchase x points for the year and each round will cost you y points. Does anyone know how successful the de vere membership as if that has been successful then surely clubs will follow the idea?

Have you been in touch with the club, as they will do membership to suit most needs. At certain times of the year they seem to waive the joining fee. You can register an interest and they will send you by email any good deals. Also the club year runs from 1 November, so if you join in April you pay greatly reduced fees, and you get the summer months to see if you like the place. ;)

There are roll ups during the week and at weekends, so you may struggle to only play 10/15 a year!!

Did that on my first round there, then played again in the afternoon, got cocky and got the driver out, and truly got chewed up and spar out. Lesson well and truly learnt!!!

There has been talk on here of open days to attract new members and we have them throughout the year. Usually 9 holes with either the captain or vice, a tour of the club and facilities (such as they are) and a drink and a chat after. Free. We have had a great take up even with the joining fees which can be paid over three years any way so is £200 per year really going to make all the difference.
