Any of you boys ever regularly get a few holes in before work of a morning in the summer?

I only live 2 mins from my course and was thinking this summer of getting 9 holes in on me own before i go to work at 9am.

Does the novelty soon wear of or is it good practice?

The driving range is starting to bore me so I thought there's no better practice than the real thing. Chance to play different / multiple shots and the course i'd imaging will be nice and quiet.

I like the idea of trying 2 ball worse ball... supposed to be good practice.

If I lived that close, I'd be there a couple of mornings in the summer!

I like to play a few holes every now and again, although often just play a single ball, but throw another down if I've hit a bad shot.

One thing I would suggest is that you putt out and take your time doing so... getting to the green and dinking the putts is a bad habit to get into!

I live 5 mins walk to my local course and only ever had a few holes before work once while I was member there. Dew was an issue plus the green staff were not that happy about it as I remember as the course did not officially open till 8am. no reason why that should be the case for you though.

I remember my brother going for games with his mates at Batchwood Hall golf club in St Albans as soon as I it was light, but that was cos they had just come out of the nightclub that was on site

It's great idea, I've done it many times as I've lived near my last two courses.

A two-ball worst ball is also a great idea.

Just make sure you warm up correctly. I used to roll out of bed at 6.00 and be on the tee at 6.15! Madness really but loved it.

Practically the only time I can play is before work!
Being Self-Employed I can work the diary so I have Friday mornigs off and maybe another one as well. Start about 9.30, finish by 1, bite to eat, off to work!

I used to play at 4.30 in the summer, as I was a bit of an insomniac.

I sleep better now. Also I have moved clubs to one where the course doesn't open til 7.00. They are strict on this too, as it is one of the terms of our lease from the council. I start work at 8.00, a half hour drive away, so it isn't possible anymore.

I work shifts so when i'm on 3-11 i play alot before work, in summer i normally get down to the course for about 7am and then i'm back home for about 10.30 so it gives me chance to get something to eat and have a couple of hours to put me feet up before work.

Love playing on a summer morning when it's pretty quiet and it's warm enough for just a t-shirt but cool enough to not to be dripping in sweat.

Golf at that time of a beautiful summers morning is simply fantastic, although I echo what Patrick says, the dew can be a nightmare, I played once in my summer shoes and my feet were saturated after about 7 holes. After that the waterproof shoes stayed in the boot of the car as well.

I've seen myself finish a nightshift and head out for a few holes at 0715 and in bed for 0900.

Used to work shifts myself 4 on 4 off with a 12 hour shift finishing at 7pm or 7am. In the summer a group of us from the shift team started to go straight after a 7am finish and play 18 holes then sleep - trouble was our scores sucked big time and we were grumpy all the way round. We soon realised that it was doing more harm to our games than good and decided to get the sleep in then play a late afternoon game before the next shift - scores improved and we were all much more sociable!!

Used to finish night shift at 5.15 and b on the course at 5.30 ,in the summer it was great ,we had a league going as well but always hit the wall after 13 holes.

Try and hit balls or play before my nightshift now the a couple of hours kip.
