Yesterday was my Club Championship Qualifier, at Bellshill GC and on Friday night my wife was taken in to be induced! Arranged the earliest tee time, in fact the club arranged an additional early one and all was going swimmingly until I walked on to the 7th green, and the dreaded "It's tile!" text pinged! Level par, and a putt for -1! I left my playing partner and made it to the clubhouse in 3 mins! I managed to the hospital in 13, probably breaking the law a few times en route! An hour later my wife gave birth to a baby boy and they are now both doing well!

This morning I received my how did I do update, and I've been DQd for not signing my card...the officousness of some club council members eh!?

Anyone else ever had to make the mad dash from the course to the hospital!?

Oh FFS

Bloody officials

The club could have framed that card and given it to you as a momento

Some clubs do have right arses in charge

And congrats to you and your wife

I doubt I'll be the only one wondering why you were on the course at all? If it was me processing your card,, I'd have given you a point 1 for every hole played :) (After all, having a sproggie is going to ruin your h/c anyway ... )

Congrats !!!

Congratulations, hope mam and baby are doing well.
TBH, I'm shocked you risked being on the course and agree you deserve the dq ;)

With hindsight you could of bought one of those lights that straps, onto you head and teed off at 3.00 am. You would of finished your round then.

👍 Congrats on getting a new caddy.

She was in to get induced and nothing was happening when I teed off! Her midwife was talking about Sunday! 😂 Plus it was the Club Championship qualifier.....it only happens once a year 😂

If I did that I would be getting a swift divorce lol

GM were doing a piece about bn addicted to golf , picture of a dishwasher with golf balls in it .. think they have a new entry for next time they run it

.1's & DQ are temporary .. Family is for life

Congrats to ye all

I played with a guy and his father in law in a society in march in the off season.
Wife was in labour that morning.
Both stayed to play the round and a beer afterwards.
This was his third child and she has had very long labours so was no rush.
Dedicated.

The DQ is a bit harsh , but how inconsiderate of your wife not waiting till you'd finished your round
Congratulations to you and your family

If my wife had been admitted for induced labour the night before I don't think I'd be hitting the fairways that morning. Not like the outcome is a surprise!

Nah, the outcome wasn't a surprise, but like labour, it could've happened for days. I couldn't get in the ward until she was in established labour anyway, so what was the point in me twiddling my thumbs!? I made it in plenty time, and now have a bitnof story to tell when he asks when he's older, rather than a "oh we waited ages, and the pain etc etc" Lighten up!

Or years of your wife reminding you how you put golf before your child

Didn't mean to sound like I was having a go. I just don't think I'd be able to think of golf at all. More importantly though. Congratulations. You are lucky to be blessed with a new baby and an understanding wife.

When my little girl was born that last thing i could think about was golf - congrats but there is no way i could be on a course if the wife is going into Labour or induced

I played a Friday evening competition and on Friday night the water broke. But then, he was 3 weeks early, and when I was on the course mummy was cycling home from work anyway.

Congratulations.

Our second baby is due a week today so I felt safe enough to play in the first two rounds of our club championship yesterday and today, albeit with access to a phone at all times.

I've qualified for rounds three and four next weekend but can't see myself playing somehow...
