I'm missing it already and this weekend will be the first I've missed in 2 yrs. fact of the matter is the place I work at cutting alloy plates for GKN Airbus had offered me the weekend shift 6am to 6pm for the same wages so it was a to good a deal to turn down, and the bonus is I can play Mon Tue Wed Thu and Friday.

Sold your sole to the Devil!

Well, not exactly, but you'll soon find games to play during the week and you'll play more and you will improve - so not all bad!

i imagine there will be the odd comp during the week so not the end of the world. have a look out for weekday roll ups so you can play some competitive golf still.

Ian, I work for GKN at Western approach nr bristol. I'm on the 24/7 7 til 7 shift, so I work everyother weekend which writes off a lot of my golf but like it has been said, midweek comps and if a big comp is coming up you can practise thru out the week and book a day off or half a day and still play.

I have been on shifts for twenty years and it has been the best thing for my golf. Before that, I managed to play around once a month but now I average three games a week plus cricket on my free weekends (3 in 5) during the summer. It will be good for you.

Well before I took this shift I was on 6am to 2 pm one week then 2pm til 10pm the next and I hated the 2 til 10 as it wasted the whole day and never got to see the wife and kids, the only other downside of the weekend shift is on a Sunday I use to take my 9ry old daughter to lessons and comps which I sadly will no longer be able to because as I see it Saturdays will be the only holiday I would take.

My new job has the dreaded 2-10 shift!! Really not looking forward to those. Like you say it's a waste of a day.

Be nice to get a few rounds in during the weeks I'm on 6-2 though in the summer months.

A blessing in disguise maybe? Your golf might have a new focus now... Great stuff Ian!
