Going off the boil for golf (for now)

Golf goes in cycles .
Look at Tiger Woods and his current issues.
When it is no longer fun just give yourself time out.
You will soon know if you start to miss the game.
The desire to play will probably return soon and then any trials and tribulations will be forgotten.

When it does give me a nod and we will have a round.

We may be invited for a round by Benross so keep your hand in!:fore:

Going in a reverse retail therapy...

'Sold' my Taylormade Superfast driver... When i say 'sold', more like gave it one of my PP for 20 quid - which got promptly exchanged for Breakie and a cuppa for the group. It had been a loyal servant and first and longest serving driver. But it has been re-homed.

Some more sticks coming up on the 'for sale' section.... never thought selling/declutting could be a release valve.

yes, thats the definition of sold:ears:

I think I know what the OP means. Every year I swear I am going to play regularly through the winter, but when the course is muddy and they put us on winter greens and mats I completely lose interest. Especially when it's bitterly cold or lashing down with rain. So, I find other things to do and even start to enjoy things like a lie in at weekend. You get 4 or 5 hours back in your day you usually give to a round of golf.
By mid January I am usually starting to panic that my golf game will be uber poor by the time the season starts, so I start to practice at the range, but it turns out I was right and I will struggle for the first few weeks of the season.
However, once I start playing again I can't believe I did anything else with my time. For me, Golf is an easy habit to get out of when you haven't played for a while, but when you are playing every week you can't imagine not playing.
This year, here we are in Mid March and I haven't got going yet. The likelihood is that the first few weeks will be a write off. This year however, I am determined to not take it all so seriously. my handicap is just a number. Too big a number, but just a number nonetheless. I am even thinking about playing a little less this year. I need to remember that playing every weekend is not mandatory and a different attitude may actually help my game. I also need to play more golf for the fun of it and not be so results driven. More bounce games, less comps.

did not see any cash :( but nothin. Like a greasy spoon breakie..

its been my longest serving club, so gutted to see it go.. She has got a new home but I will see it every week in my PPs bag... So a bit like having ur ex now see one of ur best mates :)

Will be nice for you to see the club being used properly. :ears:

How did I miss this.....I do love a good sob story, I wonder if it will all end happily ever after, I really don't hope so, I hate predictable endings

Not so much off the boil as positively tepid. Hit the range today as I was enforced into Mothers Day duties (and this for the MIL!!!!) and to be honest it was shocking. Even managed to hit the hosel rockets and all sort of poor shots despite trying my best to just stand there, swing smoothly and not change anything. No idea what happened but had a lesson pre-booked for tomorrow so at least the fix will be quick in coming. I'm sure it's something small

Homer sometimes I wonder what planet you are on
a) this thread isn't about you
b) why does a single range session matter
c) especially after you scored 38 points at Blackmoor

a) no one said it is.
b) I was crap yesterday too only salvaging 29 points thanks to some freaky putting

It seems I lack something called consistency

Yes but you are not going off the boil. You post about 500 times a day, write a blog, play/practice daily and regularly gush about new kit (Titleist AP1s at the moment). If that's off the boil or lukewarm then most tour pros are at 0 degrees kelvin!!!!

Edit: think I got my logic wrong on that one :o but you know what I meant ;)

I read a lot on here from certain quarters about taking lessons, anyone else of the opinion that it's possible to have too many lessons? Too much to think about?

If a lesson costs the same as a couple of rounds of pints ( obviously depending on the size of your circle of friends), but having gazillions of them doesn't improve your game or more importantly your scores/handicap, I'd rather spend my hard earned in the pub I think.

just my opinion

That doesn't sound much like NGT (all for the price of 2 pints)
