The GM advance party of myself, Neil, Fergus and Mike are now safely ensconsed in the Turnberry Media Centre.

Haven't yet fully managed to find our bearings, but if you have any burning questions for us, please fire away.

Must go now as I've got a rare chance to interview big John Daly in an hour's time and need to polish up my questions...

Judging by this and the previous 2 posts, looks like all of you have now left GM Tower's - one of you did turn the lights out & lock the door didnt you ??

The expenses must be extortionate at GM. It's getting like the BBC at Glasto.
I'm phoning The Telegraph to investigate.
I've no questions as such, just a burning jealousy at everyone there and remembering how exciting it feels in the run up to The Open.
There's no championship like it.
Enjoy,enjoy,enjoy.

Not that I'm jealous in any way :( but what are the players saying about the course now they've played it. With the forecast looking "interesting" for the next few days is it going to be a battlefield or can they still make scores out there.

Just sat in on a very interesting Sandy Lyle press conference regarding his comments about Monty, more of which later from Fergus.

Anyway, in reply to various posts

1) No need to turn the lights out as young Michael Weston is still manning the fort along with the art guys trying to produce some pages for the next issue that we spent a couple of weeks hard graft writing before we headed up here.

2) Expenses under control - strict intructions to be sensibly frugal this year.

3) Fergus has been out and about and here's what he had to say about the course and some of what he witnessed out there

4) Trying to hang on to our jobs right now so nothing in the offing for the foreseeable future.

5) General consensus is that it is, of course, weather-dependent, but both Tiger and Paul Casey have said in their press conferences that it's quite hard to see a Greg Norman-esque Turnberry 63 other than in the most benign of conditions. But I wouldn't bet against low round of the week being around that mark as someone somewhere always seems to produce some sort of unfeasibly low score these days.

Lyle has now dug himself a hole that he really can't get himself out of. Of course he should have been afforded some sort of communication from George O'Grady or someone similar, but it never happened. However he's let his bitterness spill over into something rather unpleasant, and his best course of action is to retreat to his farm quick smart.

Turnberry is shielded from the worst of the weather usually, it's in a little bay of it's own and although the forecast could be rank, it usually turns out prety good.

Not True Andy i have played the course 4 times and only once in good conditions,If the weather is bad then you know about it,When i teed off on the 1st the rain was so bad i was soaked to the skin by the 3rd,And i have a very good brand of waterproofs. If Ailsa has her bonnet on beware,Thats what my caddy told me.
