Cousins stagg doo in Glasgow around about June time.
His bro (bm)has been in touch tonight asking if I can make some enquiries into Golf and hotel packages in Glasgow???? First thing I would say I didn't think Glasgow was exactly a golfing Mecca! Although cuz said there's loads of courses. Your thoughts on deasant courses in and around Glasgow? I've no idea, without using google.

Before you bombard me with all the top totty night spots, I have Dodger on board as my nightlife adviser :p

Bonnyton is very good 8/10 parkland course near a place called eaglesham (South of glasgow by about 20-30 mins drive). Green fees are around £40 but they may do you a deal.

Discussing a similar thing with a Glasgow colleague today. He has contacts at Turnberry but said no night life locally or as he called it the 3 eyed brigade  frequent pubs around there.

We played Cameron House in October, the course wasn't great, decent but the views were fantastic and I'd say worth a visit. You could of course push the boat out and go for Loch Lomond

Loch Lomond is a members course only does not allow visitors unless as a guest of a member.

Fair play, I know the members bought it out in the last year, so a hotel chain wouldn't take it over.

Maybe they have changed the accessability policy.

Loads of nice places within an hours drive, if you are looking for something close, Mar Hall is worth a look, about 15 mins away next to Erskine bridge. Very nice track and 5* hotel, don't know if you will get a decent deal in June though.

I wonder if the move of the Scottish Open has been a factor in the thinking?

Possibly, but I think the members were asked for something like 35 mil between them (which they raised) to stop the hotel chain getting it. Probably to keep the likes of us out.

Me and my mates were due to play it 2 years ago, for all our fortieths (4 in one calendar year), as one of them new a member, but the only weekend we could agree on was 2 weeks before the Scottish open, so was shut.

We played Carnoustie instead, which was fantastic.

Round and about Glasgow in no particular order.

Haggs Castle
Cathkin Braes
Cawder
Pollok
Whitecraigs
Cathcart Castle
Bonnyton

My course in my signature is 10 minutes drive from Glasgow airport, 15 minutes from the city centre. How many are there? I can either sign a few on or see if I can negotiate a deal.

Good selection of Glasgow courses by TheCraw - Good tracks and good clubhouse facilities for a group to have a couple of pies and scran after the round - and all within 20-30mins taxi from city centre

Glasgow is top drawer for a night out too - all tastes/budgets catered for. NaeBrains, how long are you up here for as if you have room for two rounds you should pick one of the above by Craw , then look to do a wee Ayrshire trip the next day.

Train direct from Glasgow city centre to Troon or Prestwick - courses are right at the stations down there. A bit of links golf to mix in with the Parkland of Glasgow

Make the most of it mate - got the makings of a great trip.

Gourock is about 25 miles west if you want some stunning views of the Clyde. Club also does a promotional deal with a local hotel. I know the owner so could possibly get you a better deal.

Link on my signature and promotion is on website also.

Are you going to supply them all with stab proof vests and a suitable weapon for a night out in Greenock's finest establishment, Word Up!!!!

They eat people from Renfrewshire in Greenock, what are they going to do to a bunch of Southerners?

Southerners would just be a light snack for those doon the water in sunny Greenock.

Played football down there years ago, and we had to get a Police escort out of teh gaff - true story. The natives got a bit restless when us Glasgow boys beat the local team in a tasty cup tie. Happy Days haha

Gourock is fine for beers and grub then train to Glasgow for the clubs.

No need for Word Up although the tottie is pretty smart.
