Giving up after bad shots!

Did walk off a while back. Not my finest moment but usually I'll grind it out through thin and thinner. My golf has been a mess for a while and I've gone back to the ten yard line where I can get annoyed about the shot and once I've passed that point its over and forgotten. Walk tall, eyes on the tree line and try harder on the next

Walked off once, a long time ago, when I was pretty new to competition golf, partly through a niggling shoulder injury, but mainly because I was playing some terrible golf on the front nine. If I'm honest I probably could have played on regarding the injury, and would have done if I'd not been chomping it round.

Got a bit of a talking to from a couple of other members and vowed never to do it again.

I ow run an eclectic comp for a group of about 12 players, so no matter how bad it is, no matter how far away from buffer you are, you always have something to play for

I've never walked off, but in a private round I might stop keeping score at some point when things are going too badly. And normally I do play better from that point onwards, just because I am more relaxed that way. Never gave up in a comp, though and normally do have quite a good bouncebackability. I've been known to win comps or at least come up in the top 3 after blobbing four continuous holes on the front 9. At my level of play I know I will hit bad shots in every round. And not just one or two. Best just roll with it.

I'd never finish a round if I walked off after a few bad shots :D
I was just going to say the same! If I walked off after a couple of bad shots I'd have never once completed a round.

I do get angry with myself sometimes if I'm repeating the same mistakes. Never much more than smacking the club on the ground though, or dropping it after a crap shot. I find if I don't vent my anger a little, it goes into the next shot instead and makes that one worse as well. Sometimes shouting a few expletives is all it takes to get it out of your system so you can refocus again on the next shot.

I keep going no matter how badly I'm playing - I'd rather be playing golf than doing (almost) anything else so why would I stop?

The only time I've given up was when it was hailing, I was on 8 points at the turn, and one of the blokes I was playing with was a t*sser. I can cope with bad golf, I can cope with terrible weather, I can cope with unpleasant FCs - but it seems I can't cope with all three at the same time!

I'd rather play bad golf than go shopping so I stay on the course.

Had a meltdown last weekend in Marbella. Wasn't playing that well and then had 3 really bad, really really bad holes and did a bit of sulking. Then after applying some sun cream whilst waiting for my playing partners to finish the hole I realised that I was playing golf, in the sunshine with my 2 best mates.

Hang on, isn't the whole point to get to the 19th?
What the...? You cannot go to the 19th without getting through 18th can you? Surely not?

I didn't even know you could quit.... I wish I could quit sometimes.
I'm 44 but I still could imagine the look on my Dad's face if I even said I might quit.

Some years ago, I was about +6 shots over my handicap I managed to finish tied 3rd and won a prize on countback
I'd finished strongly although I thought it was crap.
Totally by surprise. Most others finished poorly.
Never give up. Ever. Anything can happen.

When it goes wrong I do sort of feel like it but then it goes away after a while.
And , if you don't play the 18th how do you know if you could've/would've eagled it?

Every game has a time limit, 70 minutes, 80 minutes, 90 minutes, 11 frames/games or best of 5 sets or whatever.
The only time you leave the pitch is when you're injured or something way more important comes up.
