On a number of threads the name of Thorpe Wood has come up as being a reasonable distance for a number of people to travel to including a number who are new to the forum and to the game.

I thought I would see how many may be interested in a mini meet over the next few weeks. For those who do not know the course, it is a muni in Peterborough, easy to get to from the A1. It tends to receive very good reviews for a muni course, tends to be in good nick and is quite challenging, in part due to the number of longer par 4 holes. It is also very cheap at under £22 to play at weekends.

This is the web site.

As I work nearby I am happy to book some tee times and as it is pay and play there may be no need for deposits etc. Depending on numbers I will also check on society rates.

Anyway, post on here if you are interested and when you are available. I generally cannot play mid week so will be looking to arrange something for one weekend.

Looks like a nice course.

Im always in for a game, any Weekend I dont have a Local event, so will have to see what the dates if any are proposed.

count me in, aslong as I know the date before I book any overtime or work try to force me in (damn these new contracts) ;)

Re: Guagung Interest in a Mini Meet at Thorpe Wood

I am booked up for pretty much all of February with family stuff so was thinking first or second week of March. Tee of around 9.30 to allow time travel. Would need to be a Satrday or Sunday morning.

Any thoughts on that as a starting point.

I'll have to pull out.
I teach Sat and Sun mornings :(

March sounds good as gives me time to get a few rounds in and do some overtime to cover all my latest spends on golf gear ;) (picking more ebay bargains up tomorrow night lol)

about an hr trip for me give or take so 9.30 is spot on

seeing Bob's post above I could do a weekday if I get 14 days notice as got 1 days leave left floating

If it were easier for everyone I am on a new annual holiday allowance from the end of Feb so could take a day off. Happy to listen to what suits the majority then I can look to sort something definite.

Only concern about a lunchtime meet is having time to get round. From memory it is a long course and as a muni could be busy.

Re: Guagung Interest in a Mini Meet at Thorpe Wood

I wouldn't be able to get there till about 12.30-1.00 anyway.
Dont worry about me though, I can play there any time.
Jan might still be up for it though

Nope just been swamped at work. Give me a week or so and I will be back to put plans in place.

Bon homme!

If we can get the right day I'd like to drag my mate out too, he's suffering from a serious golfing drought. (We are playing Master's Saturday though).
