Gapping on woods (degrees)

Driver 9.5*
3 wood 15*
2i 18*

4 to wedges, don't carry a 3i as my lofts are quite strong and it is very close to the 2i.

Driver set to 12.75°
4 wood 17°
Hybrid #1 21°
Hybrid #2 24°

Loft helps me (home-made swing produces a naturally low shot) and once I'm happy with settings I rarely fiddle - it's then all about the distances and shape of the shot like most folk.

similar for me,

D - 12
F - 16.5
H - 18.5

Mines a little confused currently due to my new 12* SLDR, so, I have

Driver 12*
3w+ 13*
4w 17*
7w 21*

I need to drop 1 and have been going out without the 4w currently as the 7w is great for long par 3's or 1st cut long 2nd shots, I have toyed with keeping them all and dropping the 4i :mmm:

Driver 10.5
3 Wood 15
21 hybrid
24 hybrid
4 - P
52 and 58 wedges

agree with previous post that distance gapping should be the focus rather than loft

Driver 10.5
4wood 17
3h 19
4h 22
but like yourself slab I bought the stage2 hybrid on Sunday but I hit it longer the my 3 hybrid which is benross, looks like I shall be treating myself to a new 3hybrid which may lead to a stage 2 4 wood as we'll!!

Just wondered what folks have as gaps on their 'woods'

Clearly the distance gap is more critical but as yardage is dependent on the individual player I'm asking about gaps in degrees

you have me - I simply do not get this logic at all!

in the same vein.........

yardage is dependent on the club length
swing speed
angle of attack 9more than loft for most)
etc etc etc
then there's adjustability

I carry a 280, 255, 227 and 195 - what they are is surely irrelevant? These are the ones I'm currently giving bag space because I'm happy that those distances in the current conditions work well for me above my 5i

If conditions are heavy the longer ones will come back, possibly quite a lot, but that's just something I have in mind when deciding what to have in the bag for any given course through changing conditions - 2 weeks ago I went back to the 280/255 from 260/240 because the additional distance make a practical difference on most courses (playing distances of 500->550 are a common par 5 yardage)

to support my general supposition I would point to the SLDRmini threads as a starting point, then any hybrid discussion ... loft is almost irrelevant to gapping

Not really, how far they go is irrelevant to the thread because that's just what they do when you pick up the club (but of course its completely relevant for you when you're on the course)

Ones own yardages have little bearing on a thread that's primarily looking at the different mixes of gaps on 'woods' that folks have in their bags

I've yet to see a wooded club advertised in AG as a 220 yard fairway or 180 hybrid :D
